Haven't we beaten this subgenre to death enough already? Hell, now they are the point where all they are doing is sequels and reboots.

They are taking over. Just too many of them.

JUST superhero movies, from the days of Adam and Eve (1951) until 1991, there had been 51 total superhero movies. Superman and Mole Man being the first in 1951 (I think), there wasnt another till 1966 with the original Batman.

From 2000 to the end of 2013 there will have been 65 total. Thats not counting Transformers and a few others, dont know how to clasify them, or even the tons of animated movies. And it's only getting worse.

I completely agree. The super hero movie fad is going to fall apart at one point.

Doesn't mean I still don't want to see movies of my favorite characters though.

I do wish there was just a little more diversity though and I honestly think the whole "Avengers movies where they all have their own movies and then come together for a big fight" thing is dumb as frick.

I don't think this whole super hero movie thing would be a big deal if it wasn't just sequels being released constantly.

Man of Steel is a nice little change of pace from Iron Man 3, Capt. America 2, Hulk 2, Thor 2, Spiderman 4 (?), etc.

For me, the answer is the Flash. Founding JLA member with a rich history in the comics. Everybody knows who the Flash is.

I think Dr. Strange might make a good one, too.

Agreed. I do understand why they never did one though.

Of all the super heroes, Flash is one of the harder ones to put into a movie.

With his super power being speed, it isn't as if you can slow down a fight where there are just punches being thrown like you can with Superman.

I'd love to see a live action Flash movie, but I just don't see how it could be done correctly.

The number of films will probably thin out in a decade or so but in general, it's not stopping.

Batman's have been coming out consistently since 89. If Man of Steel is successful, you'll see him for a long run as well.

Marvel's characters are swamping us left and right but they'll slow down eventually and set in for the long haul.

Marvel is the one that is really saturating the market with their whole Avengers deal.

I really think that that is what will cause the genre to implode in on itself.

They are adding characters to these movies left and right and its just going to be a clusterfrick. Think Spiderman 3 Syndrome squared.

I agree. I think there will be a backlash, this will cause Marvel to slow it down a bit and then we'll continue getting films at a slower pace.

Marvel can do that with the Avengers and related characters because they own them and can take their sweet time.

Fox and Sony on the other hand have to continue shoveling out Spiderman, Xmen and FF with little rest or they lose the movie rights for the characters back to Marvel. I'll be interested to see how this plays out down the road.

WB owns DC, so DC never had to worry about that.

The ones currently in the works for MCU Phase 3 are Ant Man, as everyone knows. That will bring in two new characters at least without counting Wasp and Vision.

Dr Strange is in the works.

Captain America is introducing Falcon.

The Inhumans seems to be in the works also.

Avengers is looking to bring in Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

SHIELD is going to be lousy with Marvel characters if I had to guess. It already looks like they are using Luke Cage there.

Strangely I have not seen plans for Black Panther or Carol Danvers.

I don't mind getting them every 6 to 8 months. But I'm not in the majority on that I don't think.

Which sucks because I would actually like to see them, rather than the likes of Black Widow and Hawkeye.

I wouldn't mind as much if there was more variation in the characters.

If they could do Hawkeye based on the current book that's being put out, it would be awesome.

But it wouldn't fit the MCU because the current book is about what he does when he's not an Avenger. I need to pick up the last couple issues. It's pretty great.

The only comics I've read recently have been The New 52 Justice League and I have Justice League Dark ordered and on its way.

I plan on getting The Flash's new comic soon too when I get the money.

I think someone needs to blow up the frickers that made Once Upon a Time and start making Fables for TV. That is one of the best sets of graphic novels/comics out there. Far better than The Walking Dead and that spawned a huge hit TV series.

I was never a DC reader, only Marvel.

I've actually pared down my Marvel reading, it was getting a bit expensive. I'm pretty much just going with Hawkeye and maybe a couple X books.

Having never been a DC reader, I wouldn't even know where to begin as far as what I might like. But I've thought of trying a few.
