Iconic Movies You Can Actually Say You Saw In Theaters.........

I'm not a dinosaur by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm old and lucky enough to have seen a few good ones.......Not sure why but lol my parents took me to see Child's Play when I was Eight! I was scared for weeks after that experience. So I saw that opening night.
I saw Independence Day, and remembering it being a big deal back then. Blair Witch, I saw on a blind date. Lol my date was actually scarier then the movie. One of the most iconic movies I saw in theaters was Titanic. On tv it's hard to watch, but it really was good on the big screen. Finally one of the most influential movies I saw in theaters...was American Pie. It was so emotional to me because I graduated the same year as the crew in the movie. So me and my friends could really relate. What are your experiences?

I saw Titanic as well....and I agree with American Pie. I saw American Pie with a few friends of mine. We also graduated class of 99. My Dad got to say he saw Jaws in theaters.

1964:
My Fair Lady
Goldfinger
Mary Poppins
From Russia with Love
A Fistful of Dollars released in 1967 in the US (Broadmoor).
A Hard Day's Night
The Pink Panther
Viva Las Vegas
Good Neighbor Sam
Hush… Hush, Sweet Charlotte
Zulu
The Last Man on Earth
The Fall of the Roman Empire
Cheyenne Autumn
etc.
That is just the films from 1964, Baton Rouge only had 2 TV stations then and most went to the movies on weekends.
Most of these we saw at the drive in, but My Fair Lady, Goldfinger, etc. were at a theater.

I’d still resent my parents if they did this

Jaws and Star Wars. Only bits and pieces of both though. I remember the shark biting into Quint and the blood spurting from his mouth - scared me to death as a kid. I also remember Luke and Leia swinging and Vader’s breathing.

Favorite memories. under 10 seeing star wars the original and seeing the original friday the 13th with my mom. Jason jumping out the water at the end still gives me nightmares

For guys my age (36) and younger, how many truly iconic movies have come out in our lifetime?
Titanic and Jurassic Park at least. Really not sure what else.
Guys a little bit older can say et, Star Wars trilogy, jaws and godfather.

All of the Star Wars films - although I didn't see the original until it came back to theaters in either '81 or '82.
E.T.
Nicholson/Keaton Batman
Costner's Robin Hood
The Naked Gun
Jurassic Park
Titanic
Not that it's iconic, but I'm probably one of the few people who actually saw Gods & Generals in the theater
