At least it gets a shot, I have wanted a R.A. Salvatore movie for a decade.

The trailer looks like an overly simple action movie. It doesn't look like the story in any way at all.

Just my opinion.

It will lose the core supporters of the book series based off of the trailers alone.

In the previews they reference the man in black. Now, all I can think of when this movie is mentioned is ...

It will do ok at the box office but it won't be very good. Fans of the books will absolutely hate it though.

I don't see why, unless they are unaware that this is a sequel to the books.

Now this is a decent concept. The Drizzt writing fricking sucks, but the concept is quality. A Hollywood writer might actually be able to improve upon the source material.

As a big fan of Edgar Rice Burroughs and his works, I said the same thing about John Carter being made.

I enjoyed John Carter, but it absolutely wasn't in the spirit of the books. I was able to live with that, but a lot of other fans weren't, and THEY crucified it.

I could see a similar reaction to this movie. This already isn't Roland, and that is going to create a lot of stress. It better be REALLY frickING GOOD, or people will go apeshit and destroy the word-of-mouth.

King worked with the writers. It's not a direct adaptation by any means. It's more of a reimagining of the story for film.

We all know this.

There's just no buzz. I've seen no interviews. Only a few commercials and the movie is only 95 minutes long.

Just bad things man

Or this:

Although to be fair, I'm almost sure that the LOST writers got it from "The Dark Tower".

Also, since SPOILER.....

The Dark Tower is a time loop, they can do things out of sequence. There is also going to be a TV show and saw an interview the other day with the director of the movie that Eddie and Susannah are not totally forgotten about.

I think they made it for around $60 million. That's a pretty cheap summer movie by today's standards. I'm betting it tops out at around $150 million worldwide and it will justify the planned T.V. series between movies.
