Luke is just a cry baby pussy. He always was...not sure why people were shocked he was acting like a little bitch in The Last Jedi. The whole arch should have been about Obi Wan.

Rogue One and The Mandalorian are the best thing to come out of this franchise as far as quality content. Everything else to be honest...while I love them...is just subpar movie making and script.

Disney can actually do better without Lucas.

Did you watch TLJ? What about the previews for ROS?

For sure and to be honest I don’t think TLJ is any worse of a film than a large portion of the other 7. I own it. It was an easy buy and I have watched it just as much as the others.

Like I said. I love Star Wars. I think all the movies have serious flaws.

I feel like people idolize 4-6 because of the time. Doesn’t make them any better or worse than the others....at least by some wide margin.

Rogue One
boring & predictable. I swear if you cut out the Vader scene at the end, the high opinions on this movie would plummet

not sure the point of this. Lucas has consistently put out bad ideas (including the original trilogy). His world building is great, but no one disputes he's a shitty story teller ( EP 1, Crystal Skull, etc.).

A New Hope was a wreck before editing

The Original Trilogy is a self-contained story, and it was fantastic.

The 2 that you said were the best, only exist as a manner of fleshing out stories from the OT. That is why they are good. Lucas was a better storyteller, he left open-ended stories that were compelling. You WANT to know those stories.

The prequels did this to a degree.

The sequels should be telling us what happened in the story. . .but it just tells a completely separate story, but shoehorns in icons people care about, and makes them all horrible.

Luke suddenly thinks a hint of the darkside should be a death sentence, and doesn't give a shite about being a jedi. . .Han goes from charming swindler, to unlikely hero, to rebellion leader, to easy to loathe, worthless pos, deadbeat dad. . .Leia fricking Poppins. . .Admiral Ackbar shows up and dies with no fanfare, meaning, or point. . .Even Chewie is largely worthless and pointless but for memberberries.

It should have never been a part 7 & 8, but rather 1 & 2 of its own SW series. Should have just had passing cameos of the OT characters, rather than the ruinous turn they got.

from your linked article

quote:

That situation isn’t a knock against the rest of the crew who worked on A New Hope. This is just the reality of many films when they reach the editing stage. Everyone knows who directed each blockbuster, but it’s rare to find people who understand the crucial role that the editor plays in creating the rhythm and pacing of what we see on the screen.

The creators of the video even had to state in the comments that they weren’t trying to attack Lucas.

“That was never the goal, nor the intent of this video,” they wrote. “It should go without saying that George Lucas supervised, approved, and even contributed to all of these editorial changes. However, having seen the response, this is a point of fact that clearly should’ve been stated and it was an oversight on my part that that simple acknowledgment wasn’t included.”

Most every movie would be considered a wreck during the editing stage compared to the final version. That's why they edit them for time, go back for reshoots, cut out stuff that doesn't work, change scene orders from the shooting script etc etc.

lmao

Lucas was so mad that some of his dumb shite was cut from the original that he had to add pointless crap to the "remastered" '97 & '04 versions

I’ve been saying this for years...

And this new take of people wishing Lucas still had creative control is making me wonder if I live in some bizarro world

Speaking of rogue one, why was Leia on the ship in the final battle scene? And why didn't they send the plans to one of the hundred other ships that left immediately?

This seems like you didn't watch his progression.

He was a whiny, reluctant hero. It fits most of those narratives. He is willing to sacrifice himself and also hated he endangered others for the goal.

In ROTJ, he wanted Vader to turn back, but I think he fully expected all of them to get blown tf up.

People don't give Lucas enough credit. Yeah...the first cut of Star Wars was a disaster, and George Lucas knew it was a disaster. He had been unhappy with the work John Jympson had been doing in the editing room and the two clashed quite frequently. After trying and failing to persuade Jympson to cut the film the way he wanted it, Lucas fired him and brought in his wife, Marcia Lucas, and Richard Chew.

They're the ones who saved Star Wars in the editing room but they saved it according to how Lucas wanted it cut. Chew and Marcia Lucas provided invaluable inputs and added in clever bits Lucas hadn't thought of, but they were editing the film in accordance to what George Lucas wanted.
