Man of steel would've been 90% better without the IHOP, 711, Kmart, Sears, Nikon, etc.
Avengers was a turd top to bottom

I wish they would show why superman is the greatest hero of all time . They should have showed him in Africa and india like superman birthright . Trying to stop war and world hunger

I liked both a lot. Avengers was all action all the time and while the ending was really dumbassery (all the aliens die just because they close the portal) it was a better paced movie then MOS.
Man of Steel really shined during the first couple of acts...but went off the rail in the ending where thousands upon thousands of people were killed something that no superman writer worth his salt should of allowed to happen. And the destruction was well over the top.
If I had to choose between of them Avengers wins out every time. And I really enjoyed both of them.

Thousands died, instead of EVERY PERSON IN THE WORLD.
Zod had a super WMD. Casualties were going to happen. He wasn't just throwing big stuff at cowering civilians, which, in this day and age, would have been fricking lame.

Lighten up, Francis.
My opinion on Man of Steel is pretty well documented on this board. It was at best mediocre and at worst bad.
It was a jumbled mess of a plot that underutilized it's talent in favor of ridiculous fight scenes that seemed to go on ad nauseum. I was surprised at just how bored I was during the final encounter with Zod. And for the love of God, just leave the love interest out of it. It was so underdeveloped that it actually took me out of the movie even more than the boredom. That alone dropped the movie from maybe a 5 to a 3.
At least Avengers was well paced and enjoyable. Wheedon didn't need to go through each character's history to set it up so it took off immediately and the character interactions were spot on. It was a great Summer Blockbuster.
Don't get me wrong, it's not the Godfather or anything, but it did what it set out to do and it did it well. MoS failed at all points except the Krypton scenes and even those appeared a little hackneyed.

Holy crap dude relax. It was a joke. Pull the freauxzen stick out of your arse.
Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make them dumb or your enemy. So what, we don't agree on a certain movie. Move on.
Oh no, I don't like Joss Whedon! I guess why soul is damned to hell! Oh Joss Whedon my savior enter my heart and please forgive me. Let you Firefly light my path to righteousness.

There, I said it. I felt it was more epic and badass.
I liked Man of Steel - it definitely did not fall into the same formula most super hero movies follow and it did not ruin anything (like X-Men did after the first film). And I'm a Superman "guy" from the comic book days - Superman over Batman, even.
Having said that, I can't endore MoS as better than the Avengers. Neither film was perfect, but Avengers was a lot more fun.
But those are the cream of the crop (along with the first Iron Man and The Dark Knight), going back 25 years when the current era of comic book super hero movies began (which I set as Burton's Batman.)

It would be easier to discern if your posts in this particular thread weren't filled with an inability to understand certain qualities.
I do apologize for not taking it as such.

While true, this is a discussion board. If you don't want to discuss films then I don't know what to tell you.
Secondly, if you just said, "Hey I don't like the Avengers. Not my cup of tea." then yeah that would have been fine. And we probably wouldn't be at this point. But you've shite on the film for completely inaccurate reasons, which is really the crux of it.

Yeah you're manufacturing this. You didn't say "I just don't like Joss Whedon's style," innocently, you said:
quote:
I mean he really needs a pick me up considering that the Avengers and Buffy are the only two things he's done that has seen any type of success. But I guess that just makes him more the genius.
Which is stab at Whedon and the cultural perception of him. Don't blame others for taking something as it's spelled out.

you don't have to like him. i was calling out your ignorance by saying Avengers and Buffy are his only real success.
Firefly's lack of longevity on TV is the direct result of Fox incompetence. Dollhouse was agreat show as well.
Doctor Horrible s Singalong Blog is fricking hilarious.

Ok, finally watched Man of Steel.
I liked The Avengers but MoS absolutely blew it out of the water.
Absolutely loved it
