Nobody likes that movie. Nobody worth their salt likes Returns.
According to him, more people like Supes Returns than MOS.

Could the movie/TV board of tigerdroppings actually be seeing a board war between Marvel and DC fanboys for the first time ever?
Chicken has created a monster.
Chicken has created a monster.

Lois killed Zod? Was that at the end of the credits? Dammit I walked out early. I guess Superman didn't snap is neck well enough.

o me I felt as if The Avengers was Saturday morning cartoon turned into a movie
So what you're saying is that the Avengers is more faithful to the Silver Age of comic books? You know the Silver Age, the one that grew comic books into a huge, multi-faceted industry? The one that that has simple narratives within which people enjoy watching heroes exchange blows with villains while getting a little humor on the side? That one?
I agree 100%. That's why the Avengers is excellent.

while MoS was a movie that was trying to be like a Frank Miller/Alan Moore comic.
Dark. Darkity, Dark Dark Dark. For the sake of Dark!!! And MoS didn't do that well.
It was an action movie, and an above average one. That's about it.

Tried and failed.
I wouldn't say completely failed, but it did trip over itself. I mean they should have had Superman kill Zod.

Loki can't die he's a god. But Hawkeye sure racked up some frags with his mighty compound bow. When full on Natty Bumppo.

So then none of what you said happened?

Again, you clearly the missed the "comic book" part of the Avengers. Hawkeye has been killing aliens for a few decades.

I did too, thou I enjoyed both films. The avengers is a little overreated IMO, especially on this board.

Not really, but you will have people who respond to this:

People will hate you for it on here, but let them deal. It's not your fault that you enjoyed a movie more than one that had predictability and campiness of a Saturday morning cartoon with the explosions and over use CGI of a Michael Bay film. Seriously, when I was watching the attack on New York, the whole time I was thinking: wait I thought this was Chicago and Sentinal Prime was trying to bring Cybertron to Earth. But no, if Joss Weadon does shite like that it's okay. I mean he really needs a pick me up considering that the Avengers and Buffy are the only two things he's done that has seen any type of success. But I guess that just makes him more the genius.
There are a few people who are overly critical of the Avengers and yeah people will come to its defense.
If you remember the official thread, it was mostly balanced. Plenty of people had negative reactions. Plenty said it was shallow. And Plenty loved it.

No I didn't. I said that it seemed like it was a movie based on a Saturday morning cartoon, based on a comic. Again, it's not that I think that Avengers was a horrible movie, it was entertaining. What I'm saying is, to me, The Avengers was like another Transformers and never understood the hype. Both are Saturday morning cartoonish to me.
ETA: I didn't read the original thread for Avengers. I knew I was going to watch it, and didn't want it spoiled for me. (even though it went as I thought it would) Wasn't going to pay for it either.

I agree, but Cavill was great.
Oh, and MoS is better than Avengers, and I love Avengers.

You went from one end to a completely different take.
And even if...

Is your real opinion, then that is selling it short and again not understanding it for what it was. You trying to compare MoS, a movie built to mostly eschew comic book influence and use the story as a jumping off point for a more serious affair, and the Avenges, that is built specifically to cherish comic books.
Two different purposes. That's a bit harsh to say "Saturday morning cartoon," when all the Avengers did was try to be a visual comic book. And it succeeded immensely. We moved this discussion from TDK to MoS, but that's all this is. While Nolan, and seemingly DC< seek to build a completely different world from their source material, Marvel is looking for the best way to build their source into a film.
And for that, the Avengers is really unprecedented. Outside of LoTR nothing comes close in scope. To nail it for something it isn't trying to do, have an oppressively dark and moody story, is again, not getting it.

Unfair comparison.

Haven't seen the Avengers but Man of Steel was well done; liked it a lot.
Posted on 1/28/14 at 4:40 pm to RyseofRome
Man of steel was deeper then avengers, might not be saying much.. and don't know which movie had a better story, less plot holes, or better chaatcter development, Man of steel was shot better, had a way better musical score.

Good for you.
Personally, I got bored at parts of MoS, did not think the pacing was nearly as good and not sure if there was any humor at all.
As far as just enjoyability, for me, MoS was about a 6. Decent movie, no interest in watching it again though. Avengers was a 9+ for me. Only movie I have watched twice in the theater ever (took my dad the week after I saw it).
