I still hear Derek Jeter saying “Let me tell you about the greatest lineup ever…” and it being a fricking Subway commercial

I really don't know why companies waste money on commercials anymore.

dont even understand why drug ads are even legal. If you actually needed the medicine, a doctor would tell you about it, not you telling him "Hey I think I need this prescription I saw on TV for my ED"
I was just talking about this the other day. Why are they still coming out with new antidepressants? There about 20 now that are prescribed but they still haven't figured it out yet? The commercials for them are all professionally produced with professional actors, directors, editors, etc. They advertise them like they're the newest iPhone to get people to run to the Dr and ask for them. Like you said the Dr should be the one recommending it and the one to know about it, it shouldn't need to be pushed by an advertising agency. Big pharma doing work

The part that sucks about paramount+ is that it makes you watch the same 2 or 3 commercials over and over and over.
This is why I quit using Pluto. There was one ad called Untreated and Unheard that used to drive me crazy...especially the "The entire system failed my son" lady. Maybe her son failed her son. Maybe she did. But let's blame "the system" for your son's drug addiction.

Yes, I'll remember it, but that Tom Brady Hertz rent a car commercial will actively make me seek out another rental company instead of Hertz when I need to rent.

quote:That's not the way it works now. Doctors take money from pharma companies the way apartment managers took money from me when I was an assistant manager for Aaron Rents Furniture. In today's America medicine is no different than any other business.

Situations like this are also why so many crooks are running our country. They get in, start taking the money, and they will not leave until they die.
I'm talking about the majority from both parties. Vote against the incumbents, PLEASE!

quote:Sure it did. If it is remembered, and especially the advertiser (Subway) is remembered and not just the jingle of the ad then it worked. Because ultimately some will go to Subway when craving a sandwich. Will everyone? Of course not.
Then it didn't work.
It's really simple. If it didn't work then companies wouldn't have millions of dollars budgeted for advertisement each year.

Big pharma isn't doing this to get awareness out for their drugs or to even get you to ask your doctor for them. They're simply paying off the networks so they don't run bad publicity. Notice how every network fell in line during covid? Every single network has been paid off multiple times over by these drug runners.
And all the doctors have as well. And the govt entities that 'regulate' them have as well. In fact, the whole damn world seems to have drug money running in it's veins.

Big pharma
You want to blame someone - Reagan was the one who passed legislation allowing pharma to advertise on TV. He wanted kids off street drugs and on commercial pharmaceuticals.
So much money was given to the Republicans during the 80s to relax drug legislation that they bought a congressional seat and eventually the VP desk for Dan Quayle, nephew of the Biggest Pharma marketing gurus in the country. As a senior member of the Labor and Human Resources Committee, which oversees the drug industry, he deregulated everything from pharma's ability to rush drugs to market to their marketing restrictions. Meanwhile everyone thought he was a stupid kid who couldn't spell.
Dan Quayle is responsible for the advertising mess we have today.
