Most of you who hate Bohemian Rhapsody are just butthurt fanboys of A Star is Born who are sad they didn't get to see Bradley Cooper propose to Lady Ga Ga after winning the Oscar for Best Picture.

If we’ve been reduced to Bohemian Rhapsody VS Star is Born threads we may have to shut this board down.

I’m not homophobic, but this is some creepy gay shite.

Seriously look at this scene

Requires an epilepsy warning. That's terrible. At points it is cutting away when someone starts talking so that you have no idea who is talking. The greater the number of cuts =/= superior editing job. Hitchcock is crying in heaven somewhere right now

It was just like a 20 min Queen concert and I was just ready for that part to be over way before it actually ended. That part was just entirely too long.

Shall we go back in time and have Freddie cut a song from the set? Some people will bitch about anything.

What I've heard is it's a combination of the performance scenes and the fact the Brian Singer was fired and the new director was only there 2 weeks and the editor basically had to cut the movie together with no director.

So you didn’t like one of the more impressive parts of the film? How accurately they got every movement in during the concert?

Really, this part was amazing to me and one of the best parts of the movie.
I have always been a Queen fan since the late 70's and I hoped I would like this movie, but I enjoyed it way more than I thought possible.

I’m 29 and watched the movie two weeks ago on HBO for the first time.

The movie itself is okay, but I didn’t realize how many great songs Queen had. I also was mesmerized at the Live Aid scene. I’ve actually watched it numerous times

You should have been here in the days when LOST was first airing.

Admittedly that scene was pretty shoddy. But some of the sequences, especially the concerts, were pretty awesome. I didn’t even notice the bad stuff I guess.

Edited to Make Freddie seem more gay than he was; Queen to be more broken up than they were; and Live Aid to be after he found out he had AIDS, not before like in real life.

Malek's Oscar aside, I'm still curious to know what Sacha Baron Cohen could have done with that role.

are most of the academy voters even qualified to recognize good editing?

Actually, only film editors may vote in that category.

He was very flamboyant in private. Watch any Queen documentary you can get your hands on and the people who knew him will be the first to tell you that.

Queen to be more broken up than they were

Queen unofficially broke up in 1983 and spent the entire year away from each other. Things were very tense between all four members between 1980-82. They also came very close to breaking up again in 1988. Brian May contemplated suicide around the same time when he went through a very public divorce.

The whole film was purely mediocre....and editing was a BIG part of showing that.

This is true, but ACE (the editor's guild) gave their award for Film Editing (aka "the Eddie") to John Ottman and Bohemian Rhapsody.

Same, I never knew Queen sang so many song I liked or heard over the years. Heck when I heard Queens I think of a 70s bands playing 70's music. We Will Rock You being from them was eye opening.

I too went to watch the actual live aid performance and was greatly impressed by that one than the movie.

I will say after reading more about Freddie Mercury, I don't think he was gay. In fact I doubt he was gay. I will say that he was like one of those hollywood starlet who would sleep for a role in a movie.

In this case, being "Gay" help open doors and opportunity for him in the entertainment and music industry. To back this up, if he was really gay. Then he would have left his gay life parter, the person who spent the last six years of his life caring of him, more than a measly 500,000.

Instead he gave the a majority of his estate and shares over to Mary and even said in his will "It is yours cause I would have married you anyway." Or something to that effect.

I think Mary knowing freddie dream, made the ultimate sacrifice and support Freddie in being "gay" to live his dream.

A lot of things just do not add up between him and mary. I think freddie might wanted to come out as Bisexual, per their story, but Mary reaffirm that freddie had to be gay to get all of his opportunity.

Just a theory, but the way he just gave everything to Mary with those parting words is very very odd. Gay people dont do that, they leave everything to their life partner. Even now, Mary is due another 50 millions in royalty because of this biopic.
