Rian Johnson totally killed this trilogy and the character of Luke Skywalker. I think it would be best to move on from the Rebels, the Empire, and maybe even the Jedi. Go to another time in the Star Wars universe where there can be a brand new story. What do you guys think?

They should all kill themselves. (Disney)

Pretty much, they've fricked the Saga beyond repair. However, it's Disney, and they'll milk it for all it's worth.

I waited a long time to watch TLJ; against my better judgment, I finally watched it for free on Netflix or whatever.

I wish I had never done that.

Motherfrickers.

Yeah something new would be nice. Even something different but in the same universe, not involving Jedi, maybe a romance if done correctly and not cheesy (I hate sand).

The newer canon book Lost Stars would be a great choice to base this off of. It spans the period in parallel from ANH to the Battle of Jakku. For example, it offers a unique perspective that the rank and file soldiers in the Imperial Military aren’t really bad, but just following orders. Lots of other things viewed from different perspectives as well.

Purge the canon of Episodes I-III, and burn all copies of Episode VIII.

Rian Johnson should be deported. He actually thinks he made a good movie...

I love the original movies from the 70s and 80s, but from the perspective of a casual fan and not a superfan, I am starting to think that the franchise is getting really tired and I really wouldn't mind if another Star Wars movie isn't made again.

Disney should look at their films honestly.

And take the criticism from the public.

But it's not going to happen; they don't care, they make more money the further they alienate the core base.

We don't need anymore Star Wars.

Good luck with that one.

Nothing wrong with some stuff not involving jedi/sith, but doing away with it altogether would be extremely un-SW like.

And ep.7, which is a highly overrated copy of ANH. It wasnt bad, but it wasnt anything special either.

Make good, well thought out movies instead of crap.

It's real simple.
Hire someone who respects the source material, and has a reverence for it, like Kevin Fiege does with Marvel.

As much as it pains me to say this, they should do what they seem to be doing right now.

Finish off the Skywalker films (they appear to be going for a massive Author's Saving Throw) and then let the movies lay fallow for a few years. While those are on the shelf let your excellent animated series and the newly arriving live action show do the heavy lifting of rebuilding confidence in Star Wars.

Then you come back with new movies.

Take a note from Marvel. Lot of solo character movies, background stories, etc., culminating into one huge event movie.

Do a Kingdom Hearts crossover with Antman, go into the Quantum Realm, time travel back, and re-do the events from TLJ.

Let the guy behind the Clone Wars and Rebels cartoons completely redo every movie that happened after Return of the Jedi.

If you move on from all this, is it still Star Wars? With no Jedi, Rebels, or Empire, it may as well be Guardians of the Galaxy. How would it be different?

Meh.

I like the Marvel movies but they take no risks. It's already blatantly obvious that all of the characters killed in Infinity War are going to come back by the end of Endgame.

The Star Wars Universe is infinitely large and not bound to any rules of the real world. It gives Disney endless possibilities. They just have to stop trying to recycle everything, hire a real writer(s), and focus on just making a good story.
