She's not well cast in Dune. Villeneueve made some changes to Chani's character and her parent, Liet-Kynes. Those changes don't make a ton of sense, and really only kinda serve to shoehorn Zendaya in the role.
Chani should be a scarappy, but pure and beautiful (in a very girl next door way) woman. Zendaya doesn't really fit, as she's really only attractive when she's extremely made up. Truthfully, I'm not a good barometer here. I really enjoyed Dune the novel, but couldn't slog through part 2 of the movies. They're well made, but they're just missing something.

Sounds as though shes not supposed to be liked there.
I dont like euphoria, and im not watching spiderman or dune because of the female cast. I dont get, with all the countless ugly women in hollywood, why SHE gets so much hate.
She acts better than the other disney kids like hilary duff and miley. Shes no uglier than flat face, flat arse, flat chested kirsten dunst.

Honestly, she gets so much top tier work, I assume they just schedule those big projects around her.
I mean, she turns 30 in a few weeks - omitting the animated/voice work, since 2013 she's been in big budget/high profile roles:
4 Spider-Man movies (counting BND)
3 Dunes
The Greatest Showman
The Odyssey
Plus a couple of mid-major things like Luca Guadagnino's Challengers and then opposite Pattinson in The Drama (when did she have time?)
I get she's chasing "The Wall" and she's not casting herself in these things (except maybe Euphoria, but I didn't even do TV), but it feels like she's the #1 choice for any female lead part now and she just has to say "No" to everything she doesn't want to do.

Do you honestly think Zendaya had anything to do with the success of the Odyssey, Spider Man and Dune? I'll give you "The Drama" to a degree because Robert Pattinson is a legit draw but the other three could have inserted any number of pretty mid-20's chicks that could act and they would have made bank.

Overall I think she's a decent actress but the issue with Dune is not so much her acting as the fact they changed that character completely from the books and now she sticks out. Those movies are so well done, I have no idea why he did that to Chani.

Agreed. I didn’t read the books but it sounds like they’re doing her character dirty. I’ll watch Dune and Spider-Man in theaters so at least she’ll get some of my money.

It doesn’t matter what I think about any of that. The people writing the checks are paying her that $$, so that means she is worth it.
Something is worth what others are willing to pay…it has zero to do with what you think
