How many seasons is too many for you to start a new show?

I feel like if there's 7-8, it feels too much to take on. 6 or under and I'm game.

The more the better for me. And if it's already ended and I don't have to wait 18 months for a new season that's a bonus!

This is a dumb post. If I start a series I like and it has 7 seasons I get excited it won't end for awhile

No it's not. My wife refuses to start a new show if it already has several seasons available.

So OP's questions is not unreasonable.

I honestly wait for episodes to pile up before starting. The more, the better.

I didn't start Andor until the season ended.

I am the same. I prefer to know a series is ending before I start it.

Same thing your wife tells you to make you feel better.

Depends if it's still going or not. I'll watch it eventually but I'm more apt to start a new one that's already wrapped up than I am to try to play catch up on one that's still going and I'm already behind 3+ seasons. That was one positive of Covid; it paused and pushed back production on enough stuff that it allowed me get start and get caught up on several shows.

Number of seasons isn’t what bothers me usually. It’s number of episodes. If there’s more than 10, more often than not I’m out.

I get this logic since I really wanted to watch Supernatural but there are 15 seasons and the episodes are all nearly an hour long, frick that.

As long as it has an ending and wasn’t cancelled without closure, I may start it.

I always use that there google machine to see if a show had closure before starting. Nothing worse than watching a show NOT have an ending (like Firefly the show - the movie closed it pretty much).

Other than One Piece, that’s never been a deciding factor for me.

same. just busy and didn't get around to it until it was almost over.

the constant threads on here and non-stop ads i saw everywhere finally drug me across the line to start watching.

I feel like the opposite is true. I hate getting through season 1 only to realize the show is over, especially without closure.

i have a 2 year old and the thought of finding enough time to start Supernatural which is like 22 episodes a season for 15 seasons gives me anxiety

The brits have it right. 6 episodes like an hour long.

Wouldn't seven seasons or more lead you to believe that it was a pretty good show? Three or four seasons says that it might have been ok but lost it quickly. Why start a show with less content, unless it was supposed to be a limited series.

I understand where the OP is coming from. I usually only watch about 4 hours of non-sports TV per week. If a show has a bunch of seasons and a lot of eps per season I'm less likely to dive in bc it would take me too long to get through it.

Edit to add, if I start a show when it only has a couple of seasons and then it continues that is cool, but if I haven't started a show and it gets up to 4 or 5 seasons I probably won't start it.
