They recently made a video game about it.

heard it's so expansive (no pun intended) and vast that it's a bit confusing and hard to follow at times.

In his 2nd paragraph, this guy who wrote the 1st review on IMDb says it better than I could:

quote:

...I believe a little (spoiler-free) information might be helpful prior to watching the show, because the viewer is thrown right into an incredibly detailed world where much is shown rather than explained (which is certainly an elegant choice in terms of storytelling and world-building, but there's so much going on and every shot is packed with so much visual information that it can be a little confusing during the first 2 or 3 episodes). So what you need to know is this: A couple of hundred years into the future, humanity is spread out throughout the solar system and divided into 3 opposing forces who are on the brink of an all out war for political power and resources (mainly water - which is harvested in the form of asteroid ice). The 3 fractions consist of the two superpowers Earth (governed by the U.N.) and Mars; the third party are the "Belters", which is basically everyone unfortunate enough to be living on poor dwarf planets like Ceres or other large rocks in the asteroid belt (hence the name "belters"). ...

The expanse video game? OK, I think I did hear about that. Wasn’t going to go there though.

That's the Expanse. Between Bobbie, Camina and Chrisjen, I can't decide which I like more. Each has incredible powerful, funny lines. And I liked Naomi early on more than later, but damn, she does have her moments.

Somehow you failed to say Amos.
Not sure how that happened.

I read these threads because I get sick and tired of following a show only for it to get shitty. Nice to know what I'm in for.

The expanse is really good, I actually liked my rewatch better than my initial watch. Season 5-6 story focus wasn’t my favorite, but it doesn’t take away from the totality of the show.

I’m a huge fan of BSG (2004) , but The Expanse is right up there.

The best thing they ever put on Prime Video IMO. Very well made.

But yeah, I was replying to the post regarding the women on the show specifically.

I wouldn’t be opposed to a spin-off prequel of the main characters.

I am not so sure. Before the events of season one, it would seem just like more politics. Territories and trade agreements with an occasional war to solve (temporarily) who has rights to which minerals, workers going on strike…

Just the usual stuff, but out in space.

The game is a prequel that focuses on Drummer, and it has the actress doing the voice.

But it's one of those "choose your way" type games so I don't have much interest in it.

I've just binged season 1. Nice bit of hard sci-fi. I'll start through season 2 in the next day or so. Just a lot of open questions. I've seen on this thread that this is based on some likewise good books, and that they may help. I might have to skim through those. Some things seem like they ought to make sense, but I simply don't have enough information to fill the blanks.

Kinda surprised I haven't heard more about this show over the past few years.
