But if the art requires you to be surprised by the end, it's probably not very good. The plot twists which really work are organic and aren't really required
Hmm. Never really thought of it like that.
I feel like Sixth Sense was made and based off that twist. I'm not crazy about the film in general but to me it's forgettable without that twist.
I'm trying to compare that statement to a movie but I'm having a hard time just thinking of some movies with a big twist.

I usually view it as a flaw if I can too easily predict the end. But i don't sit there a try most of the time.

That wasn't the real twist to me. To me the true shocker was that the even though the test worked, he couldn't live with the fact that he somehow played a part in what his wife did. The study worked, but he openly decided to have a labotomy. That was why I walked away thinking "wow, that was crazy."
I feel like alot of people didn't catch this.
I'm not gonna sit on here and lie and say i'm good at guessing movie endings. Alot of times because I get caught up in them, every once in awhile (like Looper) I'll catch them though.
Curious to know if anyone predicted the ending to the original Saw movie. I'm sure we have enough know it alls on here that someone got it.

I remember thinking, "Why is this movie called Saw?"

"Oh."

M. NIght Shamamalama-ding dong movies are where I started to grow my power. I figured out the 6th Sense a little bit of the way through. I got the Village just by watching the trailer.
I also got Orphan from the trailer.
With tv it's really, really annoying because unfortunately I have a photographic memory for faces and I recognize nearly every character actor on every show. I can spot them from CSI, Law and Order, Elementary, Person of Interest, virtually every character actor is typecast for these shows.

Eww. Forgot about that one. Crap no. Like I say, I'm terrible at this.

I've never liked horror movies, still don't. I was 17/18 when that came out and that truly freaked me out. That is about as bad as I can go for a horror/gore movie (if that's even what it's classified as), and that's probably considered light hearted to half of the stuff in thats out there. I really liked it at the time and thought Jigsaw was awesome. The dude strolling on out in the wheelchair with that mask on, Yeesh. I haven't watched it in years though. I watched Saw2 and thought that was terrible.

About 25 minutes in I said, "he's one of the dead people." Whole family, who had seen the movie already, subsequently dropped their jaws to the floor. This alone gets me in the movie ending guessing hall of fame IMO.
Same here, it seemed so obvious. The kid who can see dead people is the only person who legitimately acknowledges him. That, along with the fact that he gets shot and all.

What happened? I have no intention of seeing it but now I'm curious
I assumed it was called saw because he kills people with a saw? or is there some kind of double entendre, like the he saw something?

I just never really think about it

I'm really really good at this. One of the reasons I love movies like Memento and The Prestige. There's NO way to know exactly what will happen until it does (and if you think you do - You're wrong).
There's only a few TV shows that managed to consistently (meaning more than once a season) surprise me...
Alias (during the first 3 seasons
Fringe (a bunch)
and there were some good twists the 2nd season of Dollhouse before it went off the rails.
