But then Quaid walked from DC to NYC and didn't freeze to death.

He didn't walk from DC to NYC... They drove a majority of the way before crashing. And they did walk, but he and his crew were used to being in the arctic doing research, so they had the equipment needed to be out in sub zero temps... and even when the super cold blast came, they had to take cover.

The idea was that very few of the people above the line had the proper attire to be out in that type of cold for extended periods of time and if the govt called for evacuation, they would get stuck out on the roads in traffic when the super blast came, killing them all.

I'm not defending the movie, as I think its pretty laughable. Just saying the "Don't evacuate" makes sense.

2012 was way more fun to watch though.

Because he wouldn't have had time to start the reactor.

Because 1 person is not an evacuation.

I mean, the movie has a multitude of issues, but this is not one of them. Saving one person, as an individual exercise, is completely different than a government-conducted mass evacuation of an entire population.

I actually enjoyed this movie, despite its ridiclousness. I mean, it was hard not to bust out laughing when they were literally running away from/being chased by the freeze.

2012 was overly stupid as well.

But both are enjoyable enough for me.

The best thing about this movie is the South Park spoof "Two Days Before the Day After Tomorrow."

Because the vice President ignored him until it was to late.

Then after the VP became president he felt bad and was trying to save face when he ordered the rescue mission the NYC.

Yeah, that part was retarded. That scene always stuck out to me. Also, Quaid walked from Philly to NYC. I remember looking it up after watching the movie. It's like 95 miles. They walked in a super blizzard for 95 miles.

I had a friend tell me how great this movie is. I don't take his advice on movies anymore.
