You are exaggerating this and it’s why you are wrong. He didn’t need to make a speech.

I’ve said before, it would take two seconds to say, “you’re not gonna make it but we can save the baby”. That’s it. That’s all he had to do. Any mother would say save the baby.

The writers didn’t have him say that because they wanted you to question how he handled that. It’s a part of showing something about his character. Setting up that she was gonna die on her battlefield is irrelevant to this discussion.

He didn’t have what it takes to look her in the eyes and tell her she wasn’t gonna make it. 6 months went by and he couldn’t speak with his daughter about all of this and how she was doing. It’s all part of the same story arc.

The king cut his finger on the Iron Throne in episode 1, and in the 6 month time skip between that and Episode 2, the cuts got infected, failed to heal and now he has gangrene. The maesters were trying anything they could to avoid having to chop off the king's fingers. Pretty sure if there's any kind of skip in between Episodes 2 and 3 the king is going to have less fingers.

Stannis edit: Fewer

This is literally a definition of woke liberal progs and how they live in the real world and turn tv shows and movies into their own political propaganda and tell everyone to sit down and shut up.

You literally just described people on the right watching stuff just looking for something woke to complain about. A couple people have literally done it in this thread.

They complain about stuff that offends them, y’all complain about wokeness. You are all the same miserable assholes, just with different political views.

That dude has grey scale and so does the King.

What's on Viserys back and finger look like two different things (in color at least). They might be the same thing but either way it's not grey scale. The scab on his back looks slightly like what Jorah's did once it was peeled off, but they would have commented on it being grey scale and it didn't show them peeling anything off. Also, just looking it up, it's not common to that area.

Jorah was the first person to be cured of Greyscale. Samwell Tarly read some old books in Old Town about possibly cutting the infected areas off to prevent spread all over and getting to the vital organs.

i would say HOTD is appealing more to ASOIAF book fans so far. the dialogue has been the strongest part

"Greyscale kills slowly, often taking many years to progress to a terminal state. Long before that, in the mid-to-late stages of the disease, the infection will spread to cover all of the victim's skin from head to toe, leaving them in agony. An infected person can survive like this for years, living in misery as one of the Stone Men."

We’re talking about two spots that this point. If it was greyscale, that spot on his back would’ve been much worse given how his finger has progressed.

Also from your same link:

quote:

Maesters say greyscale's progress can be stayed by limes, mustard poultices, and scalding-hot baths. Septons insist that prayer, sacrifice, and fasting are the cure. It is also colloquially believed that severing any affected appendages may stop the disease from spreading, but this treatment is not always effective.[3]

They’re not leaving that finger on his hand if it’s greyscale.

At that point in the history, it’s been treated and identified.

Also, some points about the throne itself from the ASOIAF wiki. I’m going to copy and paste around potential spoilers:

quote:

Because of the fanged steel behind, it is impossible to lean back on the iron seat of the Iron Throne. Aegon I intended for it to be uncomfortable, believing that "a king should never sit easy".[7] The points of the twisted blades fan out like talons from arms of the throne. Even after three hundred years, some of the blades are still sharp enough to cut.[7]

So that would account for the cut on the back.

quote:

According to the stories, the Iron Throne is capable of killing a person, and has done so before.[7] King Maegor I Targaryen, for instance, was found dead on the Iron Throne, his arms slashed open from wrist to elbow on jagged barbs, and with a blade through his neck, emerging beneath his chin. Although various culprits have been considered as having possibly murdered Maegor the Cruel, many still believe the king had been killed by the throne itself.[13]

It delays a Daemon vs Viserys conflict and probably lets Viserys ruin himself while Daemon gains more popularity by defeating the bad guy

Both Stannis and Jon thought that defeating the threat to the realm would gain them popularity among their people. Didn't work out that way, though this time seems different.

"I was trying to win the throne to save the kingdom, when I should have been trying to save the kingdom to win the throne."

I thought Crabfeeder looks like he has been burned, perhaps due to a fire set by a dragon?

The fact that the King would allow his Hand to say “I can’t allow it” was really jarring.

Trying to persuade people that it’s the right thing to do and in their best interest doesn’t equal him wanting to be popular. If that was the case, he would have never tried to get the wildlings south of the wall. Now Stannis absolutely cared about what defeating the threat to the realm could do for him.
