It is ironic that a show that had sometimes painfully fast pacaing for 9 episodes suddenly comes to a screetching halt in the finale.
I agree the pacing was bad. First 15 minutes weren't fully necessary. I wish they had saved some time on the back end and fleshed out more after Vhagar.

What a fricking atrocious book change the aemon killing scene was. It wasn’t an accident aemon had full intentions on murdering him lol

It’s interesting that they portrayed it as an accident on the show. But makes sense with Aemond’s temperament and knowledge at this point.
Would’ve liked a little more out of the episode but understand why they ended it there.

Idk if Martin is trying to do some weird meta commentary about the randomness of life, but I kinda hate that the two big events in the show (Vyseres telling Alison the song of fire and ice and then one eyed killing the little pup) were both mistakes. Vyseres thought he was talking to Raynera, and now this is the result of the dragons not listening to or obeying the rides?
If this show didn’t have dragons and HBO’s elite production no one would be watching it.

I don’t think so.
The show has made it a point to show Aemond would actually likely be a better, smarter ruler than his brother. I think this falls in line with that.
Also, the books are written as history. It’s not like it’s still not following the storyline there as it went down.

Aemon is a parallel to daemon but a bit more psychopathic. In the books it is subtext that he did it for two reasons, the kid took his eye and he wants to be king and killing her son starts a war giving him a pathway to it. Horrible change

Good episode but kind of a letdown for a season finale. I was definitely expecting something bigger.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on that one. I don’t have an issue with the change as how the show has portrayed his character to this point.
