Can you clowns stop being babies on a message board so that others can have interesting conversation regarding the show?

Rhaenyra lied about that.
Lied about what? She never said he often told it.

Yeah she just said it was a story he told.

A little pedantic, but fair enough. The point was that she played it off as a fairy tale he used to tell rather than a prophecy that he passed down to her in secret, as his heir. She intentionally made it out to be something much more mundane, even if she didn’t technically lie about it. So I can see how someone might say something like “maybe Otto knew it was a story he often told” without remembering that context.

how do we know she took it as a true prophecy to be respected? I dont think we know her POV on it. she could just think it's a fairy tale.

If you do go to read or listen (I prefer the latter) and can stomach it. I'd listen to Fire and Blood first. It just gives a ton of history of how things came to be. Spotify has them all under their audobooks.
This is me rn, and it's awesome. Half paying attention to work cause I feel like GoT has been missing from my life for too long. Quick question tho and hopefully you or someone else can answer it but I always assumed when they said "a boy of 8 and 10" would mean he was 18 but I dunno if that's right. The prose is strange on nailing down someone's age. frick does it mean when they say "a boy of 8 and 20"? A 28 yr old?

Otto wouldn’t have known what Viserys was talking about when he said “the prince that was promised” as it wasn’t a story Viserys often told
I dont think Viserys told anyone besides Rhaenyra. She talked to Daemon about it and he acted like he hadnt heard it
Posted on 7/1/24 at 6:42 pm to SECSolomonGrundy
Yeah it was meant as something only told to the heir to the throne.

At least for the Targaryen’s, the time skips aren’t as problematic in this series. They can ride dragons around. Easy to think Rhaenyra just hopped on her dragon and flew there. Nah, if she flies in on a dragon that's making a huge announcement that she is coming. Is she flying in on Pete's Dragon and it is just gonna turn invisible?
They literally showed them going to King’s Landing on a fishing boat as discussed in an earlier scene (maybe the previous scene). Dragostone and KL are literally a stone’s throw away from each other.

Correct Viserys says to Raenyra that the story has been passed down from king to heir since Aegons time.

That's not really the case. They were on a sail boat, and it definitely takes some time to get there. The Battle of The Blackwater wouldn't have happened like it did if they were a stone's throw apart.

Episode 9 and 10 of season 6 are damn solid. Especially episode 10. The battle of the bastards definitely isn’t as impressive as hardhome was imo. The rest of the season is a bit shite though. It’s by far the best of the trash last half of GoT being seasons 5-8 though.

Yep 8 and 10 means 18.
Someone said last season they were 8 and 60 or something like that.
I don't know what they say for 40,50,60 etc though

What does everyone think will happen with Rook's Rest?
Are they gonna follow Fire and Blood with the way it goes down? If they do it next week, it'll be sad for Hodors that aren't familiar.
The previews look like they are showing Aegon and Aemond riding to/in a fight. They aren't showing the Red Queen, unless I missed it.

I think they follow it almost to the letter except they inject Baela into the fight.

So with Baela ya think it'll be 2v2, or at least last minute, she comes to fight.
I keep thinking the original fight would be great to see, but I'm not ready for Rhaenys to go down. I like Eve Best' portrayal.

Same. I’m super bummed about it.

I’m not sure how they’ll do it but I know they want to elevate both Baela and Jayce above what they were in fire and blood. Having her witness Rhaenys death in person would be a solid set up for the act that earns her “the bold” epithet later.
