Now that’s the way to end one of the best series of all time
I don’t think anyone can bitch about that one.
I’m truly sad it’s over, and surprised that both Saul and Carrie, well.......
Don’t want to spoil it for anyone. LOL

The anti-GOT ending for sure

I'm the oddball. I didn't like the ending.

That ending was perfect for this show and these characters

Loved it. Throw back with the Jazz at the end. It defintely ties back to what Saul told the young CIA girl
quote:
Everything she does, everything, is becuase she never looses sight of whats important.
Imagine being Saul, betrayed, arrow thru the heart. Then the book shows up, and you know, YOU KNOW, shes is whats she always has been. Focused on the goal, no matter the cost.
Obligatory is Clarie Danes hot or not :
Romeo and Juliet got me interested, The Mod Squad hooked me for life

Claire Danes is definitely hot. I don’t see how it’s questionable.
Everyone probably forgets that she’s over 40 now. She’s aged pretty well.

good for carrie and saul, but im just not buying it. yevgeny outmaneuvered us every which way until this point, but now all the sudden hes pussywhipped and shunned by his own people at the same time?
Posted on 4/26/20 at 10:12 pm to Paedin
Yep, agree.
Pretty much sums up their relationship at the end.
To know , just KNOW.
P
Loved that between them.
Always have been on the fence about her, but tonight at the end, she was hot.
She fills out a dress nicely and she can be attractive in certain settings.

I hate Carrie with the heat of a thousand suns
She gave up the single most important asset the CIA has to prevent a possibility
I am glad this stupid show is over

SPOILERS
Love the episode and the end.
I like that she wrote a book telling her story. Hopefully she aired all of the dirty laundry.
I like that Carrie is enjoying herself in Moscow. And I like that she is using Yevgeny while at the same time enjoying herself with him. He likes her but that didn’t stop him from using her to get the flight recorder. So now she’s repaying him likewise.
Some will say Saul’s refusal to give up his asset is admirable. I don’t. He was willing to let a nuclear war break out based on a lie. He was willing to sacrifice countless...hundreds of thousands, maybe more...lives, including the lives of American soldiers. And all just to protect one single person. His asset. That’s how much value he put on it. And it wasn’t just to protect that one person...he liked being the only one able to get reliable info out of Moscow. So I don’t find that admirable at all. frick Saul.
And he would have thrown her to the wolves if he could, even though she stopped a war based on a lie by getting the info. He sent Shin Bet after her and Yevgeny saved her from a lifetime in Colorado Supermax. Saul protected his asset and ability to spy on Russia at the expense of real lives, including American soldiers. He was willing to let countless people die based on a lie. He lost sight of what’s realky important. He was in the spy game too long. It’s reprehensible to me. Again, frick him.
Saul was “but Russia.” Carrie was “frick Russia, let’s worry about them tomorrow, this is more important.” Saul was wrong, Carrie was right.
That being said, I’m glad that Carrie had a backup plan for finding the info. Good for her.
And I’m fine with Carrie sending Saul info now. She’s making up for having to burn his asset and realizes the Russian government sucks too. Like Saul, they were willing to let countless people die when they knew the truth. So she’s paying them back too even though they are clearly protecting her.
Finally, this was a huge indictment of the CIA. A real giant middle finger. When Carrie gets her purse from the office in she and Yevgeny’s home...from the slow pan from the Pulitzer Prize winning book Legacy of Ashes (a damning account of the CIA) on the desk to a giant wall of headlines and articles listing all of the CIA’s failures and corruption...the message was clear: the intelligence community has a lot of blood on its hands and left to its own devices can absolutely wreck havoc in the world and at home.
Lot of great variables in this show.

This is the crux of everything to me.
She got into this realm to prevent disaster. A nuclear war between the US and Pakistan based on a lie is a disaster. THAT was what’s important. NOT Russia. NOT a valuable asset. NOT her own standing.
She never lost sight of that when everyone else did, including Saul.

The show had its ups and downs but finished much stronger than most that run for 6+ seasons.
Carrie replacing the Instructor as the CIA's highest level Russian asset is much more believable than moving to Oregon to be a lumberjack.
Life is a circle, or something.
I feel like this is the end of an era, not just for Homeland but for quality premium cable series. Now we just have lame Netflix nostalgia and copycat series. With Bosch being the exception.
After giving up on Homeland midway through season 3 I'm glad I picked it back up.

Question: I’ve only watched this season. I plan on watching the series from the beginning now. People say repeatedly that the show fell off in the middle. Are there seasons that I should skip and can do so with no real loss? Or should I just slog through some bad seasons because I have to for the whole story?
Posted on 4/27/20 at 3:31 am to LuckyTiger
It’s all part of the story, I’d say watch them all. It makes the great seasons even more appreciated.

I agree with much of what has been said in favor of the ending. However, I just think it's laughable that Yevgeny or the Russian government would trust Carrie enough to ever let her out of their sight for a moment.
I did like the f-you to the CIA.
And I loved Saul's comment to the new president, "Don't be the 2nd schmuck in 20 years to get us into a (help me out, what word did he use?? unnecessary? phony?) war" F-you to Bush there (or maybe he used the phrase "under false pretenses"...will have to rewatch.
