All season long I had been suspecting the young female CIA officer Jenna Bragg but after last night's episode I am thinking I was wrong.

Yevgeny wanted Carrie to identify the Russian asset to get the black box. What if Carries agrees to a simultaneous swap but at the last second Carrie kills the asset----saves her from torture and they have the black box.

But why do they need the black box anyway if Haqqani Jr. was blown up---shouldn't that end the war threat with Pakistan?

Nah, he would be just another martyr.

They need to show that he was not credible.

And obviously, the strike was in the middle of nowhere with no casualties, similar to the actual recent one in supposed retaliation for the US taking out that high ranking General at the airport (real life, LOL)

Here's my outlandish prediction

(SPOILERS)

- Jalal does not die in the strike but uses it as fuel to flame the nuclear war between Pakistan and the US. Add in bandages on his face and body for dramatic effect as he saws someone's head off

- Carrie confronts Saul with a cry face but they ultimately work a plan out where Saul lives out the rest of his years in Israel with the estranged wife

- Yevgeny's feelings for Carrie finally do him in and he agrees to a deal that gets him what he wants but doesn't work out in the end as Carrie attempts to sacrifice herself to save the asset and Saul. Jenna Bragg shows up to get Carrie to safety at the last possible moment.

- David Wellington suicides Zabel (Wishful Thinking)

- The President finally has a nervous breakdown and uses racial slurs on TV

- The Americans finally get the black box but Russia has pulled a bait and switch and there is no data on it. Maybe it's 10 hours of Rick Astley.

- Nuclear war starts

- Carrie somehow survives until the end of the episode and is chasing a lead to get to Yevgeny in Moscow before time runs out

- Carrie finally thinks she has him and calmly walks into the Kremlin to find that Saul has been captured and tortured

- Jenna Bragg is a double agent and Moscow's plan B and kills Carrie as the credits roll and someone pushes a big red button to send a nuke.

Bonus prediction: Saul is wearing flannel and has worked out a deal with Moscow to be a lumberjack in the end. (This is Showtime, remember)

Bonus prediction 2: The source in Russia is not the lady but is actually Yevgeny who was a student who survived in the 80's.

Honestly, there will be a big standoff between Carrie and Saul and then the credits roll.

Well, since you're going the absurd route in reference to Showtime, it will need to include some gender angle.

Carrie definitely has a dick at the end, and Yevgeny and Carruce Jenner live happily ever after.

Idk man Yevgeny seems to love Russia far above anything else.

He’s been politely ruthless with Carrie until last night when he was brutally ruthless.

I definitely think Pakistan intentionally gave them not so accurate coordinates.

This is what I keep asking myself. Why is Carrie willing to go to such extreme measures to reveal what's said on the blackbox. It changes absolutely nothing for all parties involved.

1. Jalal deserves a drone to the dome (which I hope he got).
2. We flexed our muscle and took out the terrorist organization that car bombed our men.
3. Pakistan relations are repaired.

Not to mention, a Taliban rocket launcher did take down the 2nd helicopter escorting the President. I feel like everyone on the show has overlooked this very important fact. And we know damn well they would have taken down the President's helicopter as well if given the opportunity.

I think one of two things will happen:

1. Carrie dies

2. We get a Sopranos go to black type ending.

Also, in regards to Carrie being detained, they did go out of their way to show how much influence Saul had in getting her out, in addition to the young CIA protégé not collaborating yet on any of the details

even if that's the case, you don't think the fbi or cia would put a tail on her and intercept her when she makes contact with a witness?

I didn't see where the secret notes were still there, just the space between the binder and cover.

This is correct. But how in TF would Carrie reasonably conclude that that was the way Saul was communicating with his Russian asset . A space in the binder cover was the light bulb moment though. Lol gtfo.

It would show that Haqqani did not kill the President and is just a little mouthy piss ant about it. His credibility would be hurt badly once it’s shown he’s a fraud. And it would prevent a massive unnecessary war between Pakistan and the US because the rush to war is based on a lie, which would be exposed by the flight recorder. Moreover, nuclear war would be prevented as Pakistan has said it would use nuclear weapons against the US. Finally, it would clear Carrie’s name; she’s charged as an accessory and conspirator to murder the president.

He didn’t. Saul asked for any low priority target to buy time and the Paks gave him one.

We flexed our muscle and took out the terrorist organization that car bombed our men.

We haven’t done that at all. And even if we invaded Pakistan, which is a country of more than 100M people I think from memory without looking it up, we wouldn’t take out terrorism there. It’s an endless non winnable war.
quote:

3. Pakistan relations are repaired.

They can be repaired by not going to war with them over a lie.

I don’t think she knows for sure but has a feeling that is the way messages were concealed. The defector Kuznetsov told her that books were the way Saul liked to pass messages; he liked to use simple everyday objects hidden in plain sight. So she took that nugget of info. Then she noticed Saul had several more of the books like the one kept by Kuznetsov, still hidden in plain sight on his bookshelves, mixed in with other books. She noticed some of them were from Moscow shops. She noticed he had written on the endpapers the dates he received them then realized they were around the times he made his intelligence coups (Gorbachev negotiations with Reagan, Chernobyl, Ames, etc). Then she smiled; that was the light bulb moment for her.

Okay, so she is convinced that the books are the way in which info is passed between Saul and his asset. But how? She looks through them, finds no marks or notes. She finds no concealed sleeves or hidden features. Then she examines further and notices that the binding is slightly separated from the spine cover. She notices that the other specific books have the same trait. They didn’t show us but we can assume that his other books did not have this characteristic; I know most of mine don’t, even the older ones.

So she reasonably assumes that this is the specific way that Saul and his asset conceal messages in the books.

Seems plausible to me.

Here is what I think should be done and may be a possibility...

She has to tell Saul. Have Saul fake his death. Russians think Saul’s asset is thereby neutralized, wait for asset to possibly contact Carrie per Saul’s legacy plan. Carrie could falsely implicate any one of Russian targets we would like eradicated as the Russians would think that person to be the asset.

Carrie’s name is cleared, she continues and becomes the new handler of the Russian asset. Saul enjoys retirement in witness protection. He seems tired, his influence is waning, he is marginalized with each passing day. He may have had enough of this shite. He may be ready to step away, especially if he can do so by saving Carrie, saving and maintaining the asset, and stopping a war.
