Side question:
With reference to Quinn and his position within CIA, I am aware that the real life CIA has its Special Operations Group (SOG) and within that group is the Special Activities Division (SAD). The SAD is broken down, I believe, into government psych ops and actual spec ops, or essentially a high-end force unit similar to DEVGRU or Delta.
Is Quinn's character supposed to mimic an individual from the later group?
If so, who is the guy responsible for providing him to Estes that Saul met in the dinner?
Is that guy CIA, is Quinn CIA or is his character supposed to be essentially a private assassin that the CIA employees and can deny corroboration with if he is capture or caught?

It would be crazy if they turned Chris into some vital character with tons of depth next season. From insecure puppy dog to terrorist killer, the Chris Brody story.
I
Last night when he said "Look!". I honestly thought "this might be his moment!". And then he said nothing else and just looked at the tv like the mouthbreather he is.

I assume something along those lines, yes.
All they really said is that Dar Adul runs special off-the-book ops, and Quinn is one of his soldiers.

I dont think Brody was in on it... He wouldn't have pointed out his car being moved
This. He would have had plenty of time to get out of the situation before they puns out it was his car

Yep. There was an article a year or so ago about one of these guys that was captured in the ME...killed some people and we paid for him to get out of jail.

great posts thanks.
The Mens Journal article is pretty amazing.
Summary: CIA contractor under SAD gets attacked in Pakistan...kills attackers...gets out of vehicle and calmly takes pictures like nothing happened in a crowded market in Pakistan...CIA vehicle in route to pick him up runs over someone...he gets captured and then the State Department quietly pays millions to have him released from Pakistan. Sounds like an episode of Homeland to me.
From the article:
quote:
Davis operated in the darkest shadows of the war against terrorism. He worked for the CIA as an independent contractor, gathering information on the jihadist group behind some of the most cruel and spectacular attacks in recent years. The intelligence operation collapsed violently in January when two Pakistani men accosted Davis on a crowded street and he shot them both dead with a skill rarely seen outside spy novels. A botched attempt to rescue him in the -aftermath left a third man dead and Davis under arrest.
quote:
There is a switch inside the minds of men who work as Special Forces soldiers. It toggles between the perception of another person as “friend” or “enemy.” In one setting, it inspires a fierce and even noble protectiveness. But the moment the switch is flipped to “enemy,” vision narrows and everything but the target fades away.
Shamshad’s gun cocked, and Davis’s switch flipped.
In an instant he raised his own pistol, a semiautomatic Glock, and fired a series of five rounds straight through his windshield. The bullets punched neat holes through it, leaving only a sprinkling of green glass cubes and trapezoids on Davis’s dashboard.
He shot Shamshad in the stomach, behind his right ear, in the back, in the left arm, and in the left thigh. Shamshad fell onto the motorcycle and dropped his weapon. Haider ran toward the intersection and made it about 50 feet to a brick-and-grass island in the road. Davis opened his door, stepped from his car, and shot him five times, including twice in the back, as Haider ran. It was an unbelievable feat of marksmanship.

The only thing Chris learned from that video is that his dad was in the Marines

Well, at least I had the whole "bomb" at the memorial service right. Other than that, I'm convinced these frickers (the writers) read our threads each week, then write the complete fricking opposite of what we're thinking. Again, they appear to be trying so hard to trick us the audience, that they are starting to let the show go to shite.
I guess I can somewhat look fwd to next season, wondering if Carrie will actually be able to clear Brody, or if Brody is actually still doing Nazir's work. Just going by this episode, Brody's reaction and how fricking stupid it would have been of him to attend that memorial service unless he wanted to be a Martyr, and then the tape of him later being released, I'd guess that Brody is in fact innocent BUT knowing these writers he isn't.
They keep changing the rules when it's convenient for them and expecting us to just "go with it" when there is a big revelation. Never mind that they just killed the phone tap and most of the surveillance on Brody the minute after they stopped Nazirs original plot, knowing what a threat Brody was and the fact that he might still be in touch with other terrorist operatives. And then Quinn is just gonna have a change of heart about killing Brody after thinking on it for one night. Lets not even talk about him giving David Estes the "Order" and threatening his life, when clearly Quinn is just some black ops soldier and Estes is almost at the very top of the CIA.OK. But yeah, I'll keep watching.

Maybe the security cameras were damaged in the explosion?
And if Brody did it - and wanted to survive - why would he put the C4 in his own fricking car?
He had easy access to Carrie's car at the cabin and could have obliterated her as an agent and fricked her up as an agent but good.

Not only all of that, but I think someone mentioned earlier, remember how Brody was falling apart when he was wearing the vest in season 1? Last night there was no indication he was about to blow that place up, especially if he was gonna be there. There was nothing last night to indicate that Brody was in on it, in fact everything tell us the exact opposite, that's why I'll be really fricking pissed if the writers do end up putting it on Brody.

Knobbs, I would think that as a fan of this show, you would also feel like you were being insulted if it were to go that way.
My beef has always been that this show was really good and they didn't have to do this "Lost" trick the audience shite.
They have tried for almost 2 seasons to almost allow us to sympathize with Brody, showing us how human he was and at times how much pain he feels. They show us what a dilemma he was facing last season by having to blow up the VP and all those other people. They've showed us how conflicted he's felt this season, behind closed doors when it was just Brody and us, not like he was putting on a show to play the CIA. So if he in fact did bomb this memorial, it's pretty much doing something that Brody wouldn't do.

Where was Brody's Tahoe when Nazir abducted him in the helicopter? Could he have placed the explosives in Brody's car then? That would've been a crapload of explosives though. Could there have been a vehicle switcheroo?

I guess everything points to him not being in on it. They really set up next season with the manhunt.
