The thing about Ferrell, Sandler, and Carrey is they never really seemed quick or witty to me, they were just extremely over the top and basically yelled everything to be funny. They all basically have a character they play and they do it over and over again until after so many years that shite gets old

Will Ferrell is the king of "funny concept, shitty execution" movies
I wouldn't really describe it as a funny concept either.

The trailer looked like the two were trying to make a bad movie.

Saw it last night
Terrible

There is a song to open the third act
I looked at my wife and said WTF?
She just rolled her eyes

They set up a sequel

ETA: they should have featured Fiennes and let Ferrell and Riley play behind him
That would have been funny

I’ll admit that I did chuckle during the trailer when the little girl said "No shite Sherlock."

Every trailer I’ve seen has looked like pure shite. I really enjoyed Talladega Nights and Step Brothers, but this one looks like it will suck at unprecedented levels.

Trailer is bad. Real bad. Nothing funny and you know they tend to put the best jokes in the trailer.

Having said that, I am almost intrigued to watch a 0% RT movie.

uh, Without a Clue is a great spoof of Holmes. Kingsley and Caine are terrific in it

just a TAD difference in talent level there

That's like saying watching the Warriors play is more exciting than watching me and my similarly no talent friends in the driveway.

Carrey’s easily the most talented. His problem was he wanted to be taking seriously as an actor too after doing way too well as a comic lead, and a little too soon.

For example, one of his best all around serious movies is The Majestic but no one talks about it because it was released just after 9/11 right before Christmas and had a very anti-authoritarian message (right around the time everyone in the country was giving our new patriot act/DHS rim jobs)

I'm glad I read the reviews here for a few days before deciding if I want to spend the money. I've read enough to decided that I am out.

I went with my 13 year old daughter yesterday to see tha movie. She asked me my favorite part and I couldn’t give an answer. Very disappointed but not surprised considering the sjw times we live in.

To be fair, it looks like most of that thread was before any trailer came out.

I doubt I'd have gone to see this movie regardless, but as soon as I saw the trailer that ruled out any hope that I could possibly enjoy this movie.

We had another thread going the same day that this one was started.

Glad I read this.

It seems the movie is turning out to be less popular than a Ruth Bader Ginsburg sex tape.
