He'll never be as successful as the Catholic Church, but you have to admire his ambition.

1.2 billion that make weekly contributions to molestation settlements and ignoring the 2nd commandment. Like I said, undermining Christianity.

Pretty much doing the same with any church.

If you're trying to do the Saints break the second commandment then you're off the theological reservation of what saints are. Everyone that dies and goes to heaven is a Saint. It's the entire purpose of All Saints Day. To recognize and remember the dead.

Canonized Saints are just for emulation and are usually given some sorta theme to help with the lesson.

Praying to the saints is actually asking the saints to pray with you to God. Since as stated earlier he is an omnipresence. It's just asking for more voices to join with you or for God to allow guidance. So at worst you're performing low-key necromancy to praise God and if really used as suggested it's simply meditative prayer with a focus at the problem or praise at hand, since y'know emulation.

One of John Faa's boys. No arms, just shoulders and hands.

He never spoke, so it may just be inclusional casting. Given they're "gypsies," maybe some irregular genetics at play, so it's believable.

re: HIS DARK MATERIALS Season Long Thread - S1 Ep6: "The Daemon Cages"
I read it pretty recently but I do have a really bad memory, but I dont remember anybody with no arms.

The biggest difference in that episode compared to the book, to me (not spoiling anything), is what they were using to snatch the kids up with. But it made sense because it creates a little more drama using the fox instead of something different.

Also, her uncle was a little nicer to her than the show made it out to be. Not that big of a deal but he did show some concern for her well being and asked if she was being treated good. This kind of made him about to be a straight up jerk.

It's just one episode but overall I thought they did a nice job.

People who just reflexively reject the book/show based on their beliefs miss out on a very interesting and well-told story IMO and one that everyone can reflect on and perhaps grow from.

Regardless of your religious affiliation, it is factually accurate to say that religious organizations have a long, storied history of preying on people's ignorance and fears to obtain power, as well as attempting to suppress truth to protect that power.

That's not saying that God doesn't exist. That's saying that religion hasn't always been a pure force for good.

Don't know about that, but I've seen some of his interviews and the guy is definitely a douche. I really have no interest in reading or watching any of his shite based on that alone.

Ya know, there are a thousand very good series out there to make into film . . . why rehash the same old crap over and over.

I don't get it.

What is being rehashed?

Just rewatched the episode. Was definitely better the second time. The kid who plays Roger is awesome.

I saw the movie years ago. Saw episode 1 and found it confusing. Why was the master going to poison Asriel? Was Lyra really safe in Oxford? Who are the Gobblers? Is the Magisterium the religion or the gov't or both?

Episode 2:
- The Idea of North
"Lyra arrives to her new life in London, determined to find Roger with Mrs. Coulter's help; the Gyptians continue their search for the missing children and the elusive Gobblers."
