Henry Cavill, the Superman actor and star of The Witcher, has come aboard to topline in the live-action feature based on the mecha anime that Rawson Marshall Thurber is directing.
The actor joins Daniel Quinn-Toye, the newcomer who impressed the studio and director with his West End work opposite Tom Holland, in leading the roll call.

Wonder if they’ll cast Ellen Paige as Pidge?

Girl that looks perpetually 12.
Has Jenna Ortega or Milly Alcock written all over it.
Just give them short hair, glasses, and dress them like a boy

Superman —> The Witcher —> Warhammer 40K —> The Cavillerine —> Voltron.

I’m in. My all time favorite series (80s) as a kid. I have the Voltron Lego set, and still have my original Japanese Y&K die cast toy… missing some pieces but have all the lions.
For this I hope they are more true to the original GoLion series that Voltron was based on. There were things taken out of it to make it kid-friendly for the U.S., for example,

Henry Cavill will then officially become his OWN Voltron of geekdom :)

Was there actually a worthwhile plot to Voltron? I remember loving it as a kid, but that was because the robots formed Voltron. I really don't remember much else.

I wonder if this means they aren't reaching a 40k deal.

quote:Dunno. That was actually after my time. Voltron first aired when I was about 14, so I was far too cool to watch cartoons by then.

Yes

And because Lions.
The original Japanese series it’s based on is called GoLion. They cut it down significantly for the US but that didn’t matter, because as kids, lions and robots.
While the source material was darker (see embedded video above - I’ve never seen a complete dubbed/subbed version), everything I’ve read indicates it’s far superior, even though each episode can tend to stand alone. There are some multi episode plots.
I’m hoping that Cavill is as big of a fan of the original source material as he is on his other projects, such that’s the reason he is on board for this. Would be nice to something different.
Here’s the difference in origin of Voltron:
