A massively hyped Game of Thrones prequel series is not moving forward. HBO has scrapped plans for a prequel from showrunner Jane Goldman that starred Naomi Watts and took place thousands of years before the original series. The network shot a full pilot episode in Northern Ireland earlier this year and has elected not to pick up the series. EW learned of the plan to scrap the pilot weeks ago, and news broke Tuesday at another outlet.

Not even mad .

D and D left such a sour taste from season 7 and 8.

Apparently HBO saw the footage and said they weren’t happy

Good for them. They learned their lesson from S7

The Hodors don’t care about what was going on a thousand years before Kings Landing was ever even built. I doubt even the book readers care about a millennium prequel. I wanted to see a few generations of Targaryen rule then possibly see Robert’s Rebellion. I’m glad this got scrapped.

I wonder if Disney caught wind of this and realized that D&D actually did stain the GoT property?

Give us Robert's Rebellion with no D&D. Do it before Charles Dance gets way too old for makeup and use the young Ned actor from the Tower of Joy scene. Do the Tower of Joy scene again at the end, but actually use the dialogue from the book word for word and retcon that shite version we got in Season 6.

Well fine, recast him. But if you're gonna recast, at least if they do a Robert's Rebellion miniseries, show the Tower of Joy scene again in the last episode, but actually use the damn dialogue from the book and also put Ser Oswell Whent in the scene.

Audiobook of the Tower of Joy, amazingly done.

It's been proven that unless it can be based on something Martin has already written, it's going to be garbage. Sucks for Watts though. Her career has kinda stagnated.

Not only the universe but the images of the actors and grrm. No fault of them, but they will be remember mostly for GoT’s failure. I’d be pissed at D&D if I were any of them.

See Star Trek.

See Star Wars (although still a cash cow for Disney, no real fan "cares", because it is fricked up like a soup sandwich now).

There's a lot of great source material

You could do a "True Detective" style series where each season features new characters and stories

Unfortunately most women in Hollywood have a shelf life of about 20 years. It's a well-known secret that the majority of them are cast in roles based heavily on their sex appeal. As beauty fades so do the projects that come your way. Only a small, privileged few continue their careers into menopause as A-listers. Even in the era of the #MeToo movement, one thing is still true: sex sells.
