I remember seeing her before she was famous. I just sat there and wondered why anyone was laughing. She's just not funny to me -- never was.

Ellen is funny. Go back and look at her old stuff. And judging from the "Degenerate", it seems that you may be biased towards her from the start.

On my very short list of female comedians I don't mind.
I'd say she's probably the greatest female comedian of all time. I can't think of another that really comes close to her.

Her humor is not for everyone. It completely lacks cynicism, which most the great comics very much base a lot of their material off of.

Chelsea Handler and pretty much anyone who appears on her panel of comedians are guaranteed to suck
This is pretty accurate. Lisa Lampanelli and Whitney Cummings stand up material is pretty awful, but they at least have some good material for the roasts. Though Lampanelli has gotten stale.
Margaret Cho is fricking terrible.
It's easier to name the funny female stand ups:
1) Iliza Schlesinger
2)

I can see why chicks like her because all she does is a ton of celebrity jokes and that's the one topic most women are experts on

Ellen is pretty much the female Seinfeld. I’m not a huge fan of “observational comedy”, but she’s one of the best at it.
Lisa Lampanelli is a classic insult comic. Kind of one-dimensional, but she’s one of hundreds ripping of Don Rickles’ schtick. I think she’s funny, but not in a memorable sort of way. I’m not her biggest fan, but I certainly don’t think she’s terrible. She’s pretty middle of the road for me.
I do find men’s need to run down female comics says more about those men than the female comics. Though I agree that Margaret Cho sucks.

I enjoy Aisha Tyler's standup. So, add her to my "like" list.

That is the explanation for why Kathy Griffin is famous (or still famous).

I would say no..but then again, I have yet to ever laugh at anything any female comedian has said..that's not sexism it's just that they aren't funny

Paula Poundstone was better than Ellen back then.

Kathleen Madigan is pretty funny.
Caroline Rhea has a good stand up as well (without Google/internet - can anyone say what else she's known for?)

Has anyone said Elaine Boosler?

People sometimes refer to Joy Behar as a comic. I can't recall her ever doing standup but I just can't imagine her ever saying anything funny. Just stupid, ugly, and bitter.
