Has there been a show on basic cable with a weirder turn than Nip Tuck?

I remember the first two seasons being legit.
Then it just got weird. And weirder. Then too weird.
This was a different time. Early 00s. May be tame by today’s standards.
His son. Strange. I think he was gay or a tranny? I can’t remember.

I don't think I have seen a crazier show than Nip/Tuck since to this day. It was insane. If you have never seen it please go back & watch it.

It was so weird it felt like a badge of honor just to be a regular viewer.

It peaked at The Carver. Then went to shite.

Really enjoyed the episode where old boy needed a penis reduction because he was addicted to sucking his own cock.

This was the time of TV emerging as the dominant/new film of entertainment. Also it was not remotely as PC as today.
Every network was trying to be edgy once Sopranos came out.
Plus, this show was on F/X which was trying to more edgy than anyone.
I think the show lasted so long because it was weird and tried to push the boundaries of what is acceptable.
If that show came out in the 90's - it would've had to been on Showtime or HBO.

I have fond memories of Nip/Tuck. It definitely went off the rails towards the end though. Which is quite an accomplishment for a show that was already off the rails.

Yep. It was a victim of its own success. The firs two seasons pushed the envelope but were carefully and well written. There was symmetry between the patients and the doctors in the story lines. Once it became more widely known, Ryan Murphy just mailed it in and cashed in with cheap gimmicks and half baked plots that were discarded in the blink of an eye. It was just “what will they do next” rather than a labor of love.

I jerked off to so many women on this show when I was in high school.

You just described every single Ryan Murphy show ever made. We just didn’t know how much of a pattern this would be when Nip/Tuck started.
As for the son, was he gay? I thought he was just sleeping with the tranny.

Nah. Remember he dated and knocked up Kimber after her. And then dated his biological sister. And then had a little Mexican girlfriend he left at the altar for Ava. I’m sure I’m forgetting a few absurdities.

I quit when they had a musical season finale. It had sucked for a while before that and went on longer after that.
