What I DO know is that this series is a piece of propaganda and you have fallen for it. My point is before you start banging drums that they are innocent, do some thorough research on the actual trial.

I felt like I was probably watching a piece of propaganda when I first viewed MaM, and was hesitant to buy into the belief that Avery was completely innocent. I also felt questionable about the documentary after doing some reading on the case.

What swayed my mind, however, was the opportunity to see Dean Strang and Jerry Buting as part of their "tour" to discuss the case in DC.

There is no denying that those 2 lawyers are brilliant men, and they clearly still feel very strongly that their client was absolutely set up and totally fricked. They even acknowledged that the producers left things out of the documentary, but looking at it from a legal/evidence standpoint, there was not enough to convict Avery and Dassey. Maybe the "tour" is also propaganda, but I definitely feel like Avery is innocent now.

How many people have Westboro Baptist killed again? I'll wait for you to compile that list of victims.

you might want to avoid season 1 of Serial.

its a propaganda piece too, but you might not catch it on that one either.

Even taking into consideration police misconduct, which I concede, it is kind of like the OJ case - you either have to accept that Avery did it or that the police did it to specifically frame Avery for the crime. The circumstantial evidence is overwhelming

In the process of convicting Avery, you're condoning that misconduct.

They were likely right with Avery but they aren't going to be right every time. Does that mean one day an innocent person goes to jail for the rest of this life because these frickers weren't put in check?

Westboro Baptist would love to do something like this. I'm actually shocked they haven't.

They claim to be nonviolent, just preaching the word of the God as quoted from the Bible.

The other larger issue for them is there are only about 15 people in that church, mostly members of one family. They just aren't a nationally relevant branch of Christianity.

I didn't convict him. I struggle with whether or not I could have voted to convict him.

But that doesn't make him not guilty.

Right. The miscarriage of justice isn't Avery's jail time. It's the questions it poses for the rest of ut.

Couldn't give less of a shite about Steven Avery, honestly think he probably did kill her. POS deserves to be dead for molesting his nieces and nephews (including Brendan Dassey).

Brendan Dassey, whether he was involved in the cleanup or not, was unfit to stand trial and belongs in some kind of home.

The dude showed up wearing just a towel on her previous visit, and she told people she didn't feel comfortable going there again.
Are you saying that because the guy was stupid, he couldn't place plastic over her to decrease the mess?
Like someone else said- the circumstantial evidence was unreal. The guy had LEG IRONS and handcuffs in his house.
Sure, her brother COULD HAVE done it. Her ex COULD HAVE. Anyone COULD HAVE. But Occam's Razor, man...

Best summed up by someone that watched all of the docuseries:

"Crooked, yokel cops railroaded Avery- a creepo who absolutely raped and murdered Halbach

Avery should leave prison in a pine box. Local cops should be serving time."
