Based on how long it takes to produce a season of television these days. This will become like Stranger Things. The kid actors will look very old, very quickly.

This always seemed awkward about the casting of Emma Watson.

Good start to the casting if they are able to get him on beard.

Should have been it’s own thread instead of buried in this one.

I love Lithgow.

Odd casting though. A he’s American.

B he’s 79. By the time this is over he’d be, if still alive, in his 90s. Probably should have gone with a Brit in his 60s and just aged him up.

He did a great Winston Churchill so I’m not too concerned about the American part. HBO doesn’t make shows fast enough for him to live until Deathly Hallows.

They're going to have to recast the students at some point of they go HBO's current season release rate. Can't go 1.5-2 years on average in between seasons with this imo.

GOT had an incredibly fast production by series of that magnitude and they still had actor issues and people getting burned out.

Love Lithgow but agree with you all. He’s pretty old and they’re not even close to filming. Even if Lithgow lives until 90, that’s still pushing it.

They’re making the same mistake as they did with Richard Harris. The better move would have been Rylance

Yes, that would be a no brainer if he was British

Didn't they already cast a black British actor as Snape?

Why do they all have to be British?

Rowling in the past has insisted on it I think

Brits Only

With HBO's pace of getting shows out, Lithgow wouldn't make it to Goblet of Fire.

I hope they double down on the intensity of that scene though, just because of the meme.

Saw Cillian Murphy as Quirrell. Would be cool if that turned out.

I'd be shocked if Cillian was interested in something like this.

I think he’d be a great Quirell, but it does seem very different from most of his roles.

I kinda hope they do this. Do the first two, recast kids for 3/4 and one more recast for 5-7. Youll avoid the burnout, can make needed adjustments and not have the kids age out.

I just think having the same kids do a series for 10 years is not at all a good thing for the kid actors involved
