Halo Season 2 Paramount+ (Spoilers)

Season 1 was a textbook example of hiring writers/show runners with no appreciation for the source material. Master Cheeks, his Covenant girlfriend, and Kwan were just terrible. Action scenes were the bright spot, but few and far between. All in all, a complete failure to adapt Xbox’s best franchise into an entertaining tv show.
BUT, Paramount actually listened to feedback and fired the creative team behind season 1 and hired a new show runner that is a Halo fan. Now it could be just as bad as season 1, but I doubt it could be worse. Early reviews seem to agree it’s a vast improvement over season 1. With that said, I’m willing to get hurt again to see the Fall of Reach.
The first two episodes of season 2 will release Thursday.

I honestly believe I could have written a better first season. Some of the creative decisions made were mindboggling. How do you not even use any of Halo's music??!! The choice to cast a high profile actor and make this an interpersonal drama was disastrous. The tone of the show was completely wrong.
Maybe they will be able to hand wave away some of the bad decisions of S1 (Cortana piloting braindead chief, wtf) and just focus on the Fall of Reach.

I really wish they would have just live-actioned the book trilogy (Fall of Reach, The Flood, and First Strike). Make it 3 seasons and call it a day. All three of them could easily be broken up logically into 8 or 10 episodes each.

First season should have been alternate timelines between the beginning of the spartan program and Fall of Reach. Master chiefs character established by his leadership among his team not artifact headaches and banging a human covenant (biggest wtf ever).

i was in the season thread the whole time. bitching. i have heard they hired people that actually liked the source material so i'll give it a shot this go round. other than mastercheeks and sex stuff, i didn't hate ALL of it. but it was so little in-suit screen time. i actually cancelled Paramount immediately after and haven't had it since.

there were actually 3 pretty good episodes you could go an watch and enjoy the action sequences. the very first scene of the series was a fantastic cold open.

The action scenes of season 1 were great. Wish they had more of them. The effects of the Covenant species were near perfect and the battle scenes felt very much like the game (there was even a brief nod of MC shooting up at a departing spaceship in vain, and who hasn’t done that in Halo or other shooters?

Start is solid. Some good horror elements that were missing from S1. Straight terror in a good way.
