So when am I supposed to become obsessed with it? It’s a great show, don’t get me wrong. But it’s not close to the GOAT like everyone in the fricking world claims.

I honestly liked mad men, breaking bad and sopranos better than GOT and it’s not close.

Let the downvotes commence.

cant remember if it was season 5 or 6, but one of them was terrible

you should've been obsessed with 1-4, which are the best this show has to offer, so i dont know what's wrong with you

Season 5 was horrible.

No one said you couldn't like other shows more than GOT. Lots of people do. So I guess you just wanted attention for an opinion many people have?

Did you have things spoiled before watching like knowing certain characters had died? A big part of the appeal of the show is killing off so many characters people like and get attached too and also killing off characters that people hate and want to see die. I can definitely see where foreknowledge of individual characters death could make it seem less GOAT worthy. It'd be like watching Star Wars already knowing that Vader is Luke's father.

Season 5 is without question the worst season. Season 6 is really great though, with 7 being entertaining but sloppy.

Fair point. I did get a few deaths spoiled. But not enough to ruin my experience.

Actually I had plenty of people, both in person and on this site, tell me I was basically retarded for liking mad men more than game of thrones.

Season 4 was great, but the end of Season 6 is the best TV I've ever seen.

5 is kinda meh at times, and 7 is like watching a different show for the most part.

If you don't love it by now, then it might just not be your cup of tea.

Judging from your most recent post in the thread, it sounds like you (maybe, kinda, if you're being honest with yourself) went into it not wanting to like it as much as others have told you that you should.

I agree with this sentiment.. there were so many WOW factors in the show if you were following along with no other knowledge, it was shocking and also left you wanting more and truly curious about what may happen next. On top of that I mean I mean I already like that fantasy genre as well but you had the political aspects also.

The first 7 episodes of season 5 for pretty sub-par for the series, but the last 3 were pretty good.

And I'm with you on Season 7. I really think it was the fact that they only had the 7 episodes which hurt the story progression, which made everything seem rushed, and there wasn't enough of a build up in the story progressions.

Plus they needed to go back to the drawing board with Episode 6, which was just nonsense. There's no way in hell that will happen in the books if that fat piece of shite ever finishes.

I love mad men. And GOTs. They are so wildly different shows I don't even know how you could compare them or why you would try.

I don't know what it is about me but every series I've ever watched, I can know and comprehend and remember all of the big things that happen, but I can never ever ever tell you what seasons each thing happened like this. Doesn't matter if I watched from the beginning or binged watched quickly either.

It's like a short circuit in my brain or something.

Both are great shows but GoT is much better. Season 5 did suck for about 5 episodes though

GOT is great, but there's a lot of info overload potential at times, with so many storylines.

I think binge watching might detract, as it limits the amount of time you anticipate what might happen next.

I wanted Joffrey to die, and waited several years to see that happen, and it made it worthwhile.
I liked Robb, and wanted him to prevail, so his death really threw me off when it happened. I had rooted for him for a year, and that significantly altered my perception of what was going on and who might be relevant.

As I said, you lose the magnitude of the impact of those events when you watch them over a weekend the first time.
