Gwyneth Paltrow surprised to find out that Samuel L. Jackson is part of MCU

There’s something a touch refreshing about how little of a shite Gwyneth Paltrow gives about her career as a Marvel heroine; she recently expressed genuine shock, for instance, that she’d been in the first new Spider-Man movie, Homecoming, and she’s generally given off the vibe of a person who’s never seen any of these fricking things, and probably never will.

Plus, it leads to moments of genuine discovery and excitement—like when Paltrow found out that her old Hard Eight co-star Samuel L. Jackson was also in all these little superhero pictures she’s been doing. Said revelation apparently came to Paltrow fully 10 years into her Marvel career, when the whole MCU cast got together to take a photo, and the actress questioned why the heck Jackson was there.

This is per MCU head Kevin Feige, who gave a wide-ranging interview to Empire this week about the franchise’s ins-and-outs. Referencing the 10-year-anniversary “Class Photo” shoot—which, unsurprising given all the schedules involved, was taken quite some time ago, at the same time that the Avengers: Endgame funeral scene was shot—Feige noted that there was a lot of confusion happening that day. Part of that was natural, given that some of the performers—including Ant Man And The Wasp’s Michelle Pfeiffer—had yet to actually film their MCU roles yet. The rest, though, was pure Paltrow, with the actress seeming to genuinely not know that she’d been in three movies (Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Avengers) with Jackson’s Nick Fury (with another two, Infinity War and Endgame, on the way.)

I really doubt that she was on the set for any of these movies for more than three days per film. So I probably wouldn't remember being on the set of a movie I barely was in with anyone else either. I like her strategy. Collect the check and gtfo without having to really do much or talk to many people

With no insult intended to her... Gwyneth Paltrow also believes that shoving a rock up her hoo-ha balances her mystical energies. She isn't the brightest crayon in the box.

Do some actors/actresses really not watch their movies? I've heard of that before, but that just sounds so weird to me.

Anyways, she has to be dumb as all get out. I can't necessarily think of any scenes where she and Sam ever had a conversation on screen. But i refuse to believe at no point were they ever in the same room or even close to each other at the same time. She just has to be extremely non-observant.

She didn’t go to any of the premiers where they you know, watch the movie?

Honestly if you're never on set with the other actor you would never really know that they were in the film at all.

Depends on the actors in some cases.

Guys like Christopher Walken, Lance Henriksen, and Michael Caine are somewhat known for never watching a lot of the films they appear in, mainly because they are shite films they got a paycheck to do some short appearance in.

There’s even a somewhat infamous quote by Caine about one such film, Jaws The Revenge, where he says “I haven’t seen the film and I hear it sucks. But the check was very nice.”

If she doesn't ever watch the movies then I could understand why she wouldn't know he had been in many of them It's not like they ever shared a scene together.

I could buy not knowing he was in Ironman, since it was a closely guarded secret but 10 years later it takes a special kind of clueless narcissist to say that

Can one really be much of a narcissist if they don't watch their own movies?

I think the other line he gives out for that movie is "I haven't seen it, and I hear it is dreadful. But I see the house it bought me in Bermuda every day and it is wonderful."

She's on the first episode of Favreau's "The Chef Show" on Netflix and she literally doesn't remember being in Spiderman. They remind her of her entire scene and she's like, "No I think that was an Avengers movie."
