Probably the correct answer.

I love every one of his performances.

Jean Reno also a good choice.

Didn’t he win Best Actor for The Wrestler?

No. Mickey Roarke was beaten in for beat actor by Sean Penn in Milk.

Yes, Sean Penn played a gay mayor so he won.

Even the douche Alec Baldwin said it best one time talking about that year. He said once he saw Penn get nominated, he knew Mickey didn't have a chance of winning because of all the oscar voters pushing for the gay part to win.

He said The Wrestler is the one of the best acting performances he's ever seen. He said the best was Peter O'Toole in Lawrence of Arabia... Who also did not win for best actor.

Right.

Rourke did win the Golden Globe for best actor for The Wrestler, not the Oscar.

I mean he makes the movie the Top 5 epic that it is.

Yes, the score and Cinematography are also maybe the best ever.

But he matters everything to that film. You see the transformation from aloof, to curious, to determined, to rage, to madness and finally to despair and giving up.

The answer, of course, is Bruce Campbell.

Has Edward Norton been mentioned?

I think he was nominated for Primal Fear and American History X but didn’t win?

Great actor.

Robert Downey Jr?

Not sure he’s done any heavy acting since his younger days.

Helluva performance in Less Than Zero.

I make note to watch LOA at least once a year, particularly since getting a big screen TV and 13-speaker sound system. O’Toole is mesmerizing. Great supporting cast as well.

I do the same. My sister got me the Lawrence Of Arabia anniversary box set on Blu-ray, so it's great to get on the big screen, and crank the volume. I'm hoping the 70mm print gets screened in theaters again soon.

Since O'Toole has already been discussed though, I'll say Cary Grant. Another guy with a lifetime achievement Oscar, but no competitive Oscar, Golden Globe or BAFTA wins.

Too lazy to look up...

But Sam Elliot and Sam Shepard have been some of my faves

I also like brad Pitt and think he should have got an Oscar for inglorious bastard or legends of the fall

Kirk Douglas======not even nominated for his role in "Spartacus" for crying out loud.

Got 2 awards late in life that were "gimmes" more or less for not honoring him when he really deserved them.

I wonder if the students and faculty call it “The Goober”. I know I would.

Richard Burton would be another one. Nominated 7 times never won.

I don’t think Dennis Quaid or Kevin Bacon have ever been nominated for anything.

Quaid was nominated once for a Golden Globe, no Oscar Noms

Bacon has been nominated for 3 Golden Globes, winning once, has won two SAG awards and been nominated 5 times total, no Oscar noms for him either though he should have been for Murder in the First.
