Buckaroo Banzai and Top Secret - great trailers and mediocre movies. After those two I learned to be skeptical of trailers.

first movie I thought of, although I didn't think Prometheus was terrible, but it definitely didn't live up the hype that I created in my head after the trailer

prometheus and man of steel have 2 of the best trailers ever, imho

neither movie was elite, but both probably had more positives than negatives overall

i expected more out of prometheus, though

99% of trailers make total hammered dogshit look amazing.

Add the shrill siren wail on repeat, get people to come to your movie.

Vantage Point

In retrospect - The acting in the trailer should have been a hint... but the last part (with the remix of a song from the 300 soundtrack made me think it looked cool).

First two that come to mind are movies that I still liked, but were no where near as good as their trailers...and they are both Zack Snyder movies.

Kind of agree with man of steel. I think it was the best trailer I've ever seen. The movie wasn't terrible, it just didn't turn out anywhere nearly as good as the trailer.

the 98 version of godzilla. i remember seeing the trailer before the lost world and thinking how great a godzilla movie would be in the (new at the time) stadium type theatres.

what a letdown.

All the TV spots for the Hangover Part II were awesome but the movie sure wasn't.
