When SCTV moved to CBC, the network requested that the program add two minutes of identifiably Canadian content to pad the show due to its shorter commercial breaks. When faced with what they considered to be a bizarre request (given that the show had always been produced by a Canadian cast and crew), the crew created the stereotypically Canadian characters of Bob and Doug to lampoon it.

The collective inferiority complex that Canada suffers as a result of being adjacent to the US is fascinating to me. They're so terrified of being Americanized and all-together overrun by entertainment south of the border for them, that they have Canadian Content Laws that ensure that Canadian musicians/actors are seen on their airwaves.

I'm a huge fan of Brit humo(u)r, but most Canadian stuff totally lands flat with me. I get it that some individuals like Robin Williams and Ryan Reynolds are from there and hysterical, but to this day, I still don't understand why shite like Corner Gas is a thing.

Have you even watched Corner Gas?

It’s great, you’re lame... I don’t understand why dumb posters like this even exist.

It got some nice immediate rerun action but "Coach" is long gone now. Great show.

Why did they drop the "pizza place" after the first couple seasons?

Great show. Gave us Ryan Reynolds and Nathan Fillion.

Shows I never see in rerun

The Fall Guy
Night court
News Radio
Simon and Simon
Riptide
Just shoot me
Moonlighting

Loved all these shows and I never see them listed anywhere.

News Radio comes on weeknights at 11pm on Antenna tv - right after Coach.

Night Court comes on everyday, usually multiple times, on Laff Tv.

Those 2 channels are about all I watch these days.

I mean, no offense but some of these shows being posted are hardly "forgotten" -- some you y'all are posting some of the most popular shows of all-time
This type of thread always goes that way.

The main characters finished undergrad and started real jobs and med school. They no longer worked at the pizza joint.

I went out of town for a weekend last year. It was summer and nice out, so I had intended to go do a lot of outdoors things the whole time. The place I stayed at had some streaming thing on the tv with this. I hadn't seen it in 20 years, and ended up spending the entire weekend there watching this.

I didn't know about Antenna tv. I'll see if I can pick it up, would love to see News Radio again.

I love Laff tv, that and Me tv are about the only channels I watch now. Will have to see about adding antenna tv in also.
