I think it is a metaphor, too. Closest I can get is that she needed to 'practice rule' in Essos before she going Hell-bent for Westeros.

I have a feeling we get TOJ again but still no confirmation of R+L=J.
I feel like we might see a baby and then the next shot be of Jon, but I doubt it's going to be actually confirmed in the season finale. I have a feeling we are going to be cock teased. I think the show writers want R+L=J to be left up to Martin revealing it in the book.

I have a request. Somewhere Sunday night/Monday, I saw a picture that I thought was posted in last week's episode thread but I cannot find it.
It's the image of Jon's back to us as he's facing down the Bolton cavalry, sword unsheathed and above his head. There's a Nike logo and in Nike font it reads "WE ARE ALL WITNESSES."
I've searched high and low for it but cannot track it. Anyone seent it?

The show couldn't produce the effects needed for the actual Valyria and still have a budget. They're simplifying things for the show. There's much more to Valyria than a ruined castle and stone men. The oceans are boiling there for starters.

But why would they need to show Valyria pre-doom? If they wanted to show a bunch of ruins they could very well do that becuase that's what it mostly is now.

But you're failing to see that it's more than a ruin. It is the 7th circle of hell that the entire world is terrified of. It's not just some ruined buildings and stone men. If that were the case, men would have long conquered it again for its immense riches.
The oceans boil. Volcanos are constantly erupting. Untold horrors that no one lives to speak of live in Valyria. I think we'll find about about the origin of the Doom in the books, not in the show. As I said, Valyria proper is far to high budget to feature in the show. It makes Mordor look like paradise, not something Jorah would just enter in a row boat.

What's mysterious is why it erupted. I think they had slaves mining it and they potentially pissed something off.

It's more than that. Several dozen volcanos erupted enough to make sure not a single dragon survived and the oceans are boiling. The volcanos are still going off 400 years later. But I think there may be some unspeakable evil present in Valyria besides the environment itself, much worse and horrible than the Stone Men. I suspect some horrible sorcery was enacted to kill the Valyrians, and it continues to this day.

Yeah. I agree with that. Something bad is there that the valyrians somehow had control over until the Doom.
