Kidnapping was claimed by Robert, but because of the tourney where Rhaegar gave her the roses it's doubtful.

There were Tyrell and Martell sails on ships and they looked a little different shaped depending on the kind of ship. It may have been a representative sent to sail back with them to be seen when landing, or they were painted after Varys confirmed the alliance.

I noticed only Greyjoy flags not sails, but I could be wrong

My guess is that Robert and a few others crafted that narrative to protect themselves from a damaged reputation/broken heart.

Yeah I can't remember anything from the books, or the show where anyone has an issue with Rhaegar except Robert.

He was loved and revered by everybody

Think we ever see a Rhaegar Targaryen flashback on screen?

Robert is also the only person to have a bad mouth Rhaegar. If Rhaegar truly abducted a noble and brutally raped her, I think he would have a worse opinion throughout the land. No one but Robert believes that, and Ned seems to not harbor him any ill will.

It would be epic if Bran could see him at the tourney, and on the Trident

And what if there was some sort of Howland Reed Backstabbing to the way Robert "defeated" him on the Trident?......

That would be interesting.

Also from reddit:

quote:

For starters, Rhaegar and Dany are way more related than normal siblings, because their parents (Aerys and Rhaella) and grandparents (Jaeherys and Shaera) were both full siblings. This combination would yield a coeficient of inbreeding of .375 (extremely high). So we'd expect Rhaegar and Dany to share 87.5% of their genes compared to 50% for siblings with unrelated parents and grandparents. That being the case, Dany and Jon would be expected to share almost 44% of their genes. They may be aunt and nephew, but they're almost as related as brother and sister.

I don't remember seeing any Tyrell banners in Dany's fleet. But it's stupid for them to go in the opposite direction just to sail in the same direction back when they're perfectly positioned already. I can see the Martells sending a single ship, but that's really it.

There's no way Dany had enough ships to hold 100K+ men, horses, and all other supplies with just Greyjoys' and slave masters' ships. The Tyrells and Martells sent their ships over to load up the rest and come back.

1. Non-book reader thread doesn't want book info in thread only show while this one involves both obviously. Also some of them don't really seem to pay attention to the show and post the dumbest things.

2. Not all Targs are fire resistant.

Something that is really cool to think about is just the idea that Arthur Dayne, likely the greatest swordsman who ever lived, died protecting Jon Snow. Would be interesting to see him find that out.

So Rhaegar is assuming Lyanna and Jon would be murdered by Robert right? Or just Jon? So he sends the 3 Kingsguard with what order? Kill all who approach. Seems a bit much. The war was over. I'd have thought there would be some way to settle things without a fight. They offer to only let Eddard through would be an obvious one.

As long as Jon was alive he had a claim to the throne. It's why Robert kept trying to kill Danny and Viserys

The war wasn't over when Lyanna went to the Tower of Joy. Not sure how long she was there but Ned rode there after Rhaegar fellow the trident and she had just given birth. I would assume she was there for a long while, at least a couple months if not more. Rhaegar probably told them to keep her safe until he returned assuming he would win.
