FWIW we're in the same boat. It's just as simple as they're two different mediums at this point.

It's not "meh" to me because of changes from the books, I'm judging the show based on its own merits. It's an incredibly average show at this point that draws in a bigger audience than it deserves because of its name.

I don't care about Griff either and felt that storyline came out of left field in book 5.

But 90% of the posters in here don't seem to understand that and get their panties in a twist over changes that the evil D&D make.

Regardless of the books, you think the show is "average" compared to everything else on tv?

I think Mance is dead. Mance has no child in the show, it was the only motivation that made him accept the going to save ''Arya'' in Winterfell deal

To be honest, I agree, but I still think it dramatically changes Varys character and motives if Young Griff is not in the equation. It's not Young Griff that makes me disappointed, it's Varys. Plot points I've stopped really giving a crap about, it's just character motivations that irks me, like Tyrion not killing Tywin over Tysha and leaving Jaime on good terms.

I'm just glad we got some more Dany/Daario and Grey Worm/Missandei sprinkled with male butt cheeks.

Pretty much. The changes don't bother me at all.

I agree with that. It makes the show not make much sense in some cases.

Tyron has zero motivation for going up to Tywins chambers. I don't think they even show how Tyrion knew where Tywins chambers were

Christ I can't remember anything from the books. I thought they were on good terms when they parted.

Tyrion hit Jaime in the face, swore to eventually kill him, and then lied to him telling him that he murdered his own son. About as bad as a parting can possibly go.

Another omission was during Cercei's prophesy/flashback. They left out the valonqar line. It's a major reason why she hates Tyrion.

On the show:
“Gold will be their crowns. Gold - their shrouds.”

In the books:
“Gold shall be their crowns and gold their shrouds,” she said. “And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.”

I thought the whole point of including that scene in the show would be the Valonqar prophecy

I figure that based on the complaining in here that I'm the only book reader at this point who loves the show. I'm not going to bitch about every change they make; they are 2 different mediums. I started watching the series as a Hodor, read the books 2 years ago, and still love them both overall.

Y'all also need to stop acting like the Fat Man's books are absolutely flawless when many parts of books 4 and 5 drag on for an eternity.

Here here. I don't like his writing style very much, and his descriptions are primitive, but his story structure is incredibly complex and I respect his ability to manage it all without surrendering to plot cliches. He does all of this while keeping the readers confused and interested.

Again, he's not a gifted writer, but he's a brilliant storyteller. In the end, the latter is worth far more than the former.

TLDR: You should have paid more attention to the houses and the sigils. I had to go back and do the same.

That doesn't bother me so much. Her motivation for hating Tyrion are much deeper than that, that's just a big reason why she fears him. Granted they could come back to that in a later episode this season and just cut off the scene a bit early.

The flashback is pieced together over several Cersei chapters throughout AFFC if memory serves.

Yall are really making this unbearable. I used to love coming in these threads and discussing the SHOW with other book readers. Now it's just a bitch fest.

I haven't really bitched that much. Just said how it seems they changed Sunspear to Sunstone.

Yep. As soon as the "flashback" ended I stood up and yelled," WHAT ABOUT THE VALONQAR you sons of bitches!?"

All they basically did was reaffirm what we already knew.

Mance is dead..

It's still the best show on TV and there's nothing stopping this train.

I view the show as a streamlining of the books, some things don't make me happy because they don't make sense right now. I'm hoping D&D can straighten out those ever-mounting issues that book readers have with the exclusion and inclusion of certain plots.
