So you're saying I should just drown myself now to save myself from the disappoint going forward?
I'm just going to say that every fan is expecting Winds of Winter to be the best book of the series as a whole. The stage is completely set at the end of Book 5 for the shite to completely hit the fan, so if it isn't on par with "Storm of Swords" (which is what we're on in the show...mostly), we'll be sorely disappointed.

I think she should throw LF to the wolves and take her chances as soon as possible though.
Sansa has a guarantee of survival with LF alive. She has no such with the Lords of the Vale. They're very likely to send her back to the Lannisters.

Did anybody else bust out laughing with Arya?

Regretable but true.
The way they focused on the guy that claimed he was childhood friend with Ned struck me as telling.
I still say she shouldn't trust him. LF can help her. For now. But if this new significant image change of Sansa means what I hope it means, she can at least learn the ways of treachery. And then remove him down the line when she's built up some other allies.

I was nervous they were going to shoot her or the hound...I'm still nervous for her actually.

She certainly shouldn't trust him. Unknown to her, he's the single greatest evil in her life. He is responsible for every horrible thing that has happened to Sansa, which includes dragging her to King's Landing, killing Ned, marrying her to Tyrion, and indirectly for the Red Wedding. And he never did anything to help Sansa in King's Landing. When Joffrey hurt Sansa, it wasn't LF to the rescue, but Tyrion instead. Instead LF merely gave Joffrey whores to kill as an incentive to the Tyrells saying "This is what will happen to her if she marries Joffrey".
Also as highly implied in tonight's episode, he's merely using her in order to unite the Vale Lords in getting a united Arryn and Stark dynasty to betray the Lannisters, and he'd be the de-facto leader. Plus ruling over Ned and Cat's only "remaining child" is the ultimate "frick you" to their legacies, and he's continuing to piss all over their graves by manipulating Sansa into being someone she isn't naturally.

How close is Grey Worm and...whatever Dany's translator's name is too their depictions in the book?
Way off from the books. Missandei is a 10 yr old little girl and Grey Worm rarely ever speaks and is not that big of a character in the books

This is my first post in the middle ground thread; obviously I'm a hodor that isn't looking for spoilers - I'm more or less just curious as to how the Trail by Combat on the show compares to the book.
It happens to fast and brutally on the show, was it portrayed basically the same in the books? Was the dialogue the same? If this can't be answered without spoilers, then just call me a hodor and put a cheers emoji.
Thanks in advance.

I could have a case of my memory faulting me but the duel seemed a little longer in the books (but not by too much). It could also just be how when you read a book you perceive an event to take a lot longer than how it actually is. Dialogue was basically word-for-word with Oberyn trying to get the confession and repeating what The Mountain did to Elia and her children.

I can still barely believe I saw that on TV. Thats the first time my jaw has ever hit the floor over a television show. I was stunned, not that he died but how they depicted it.

It was too fast IMO. And yes it went pretty much exactly the same in the books as on the show..Many thanks to the show makers for not dicking us readers over.
My only beefs are that it was too fast, the scene with Tyrion and Jaime was useless and pointless, and The Mountain doesn't get up to smash his face in, he does it from his back. Either way, Oberyn is dead
:wah:
Oh and Tyrion was supposed to barf..

My jaw completely dropped too and I'm a book reader. It's one thing to read about it, it's another thing entirely to watch it actually happen.

Id love to see an in depth making of piece on that scene.

Oh, I definitely think the Season 4 DVD/BluRay box set will have a "behind the scenes/making of" the Oberyn vs. Mountain duel.

Basically, yes. The Red Viper wouldn't shut up during the duel as the Mountain was silent. Have to say whenever the Viper said these words, I uttered them as well.
"You raped her! You murdered her! You killed her children!"
But this episode was misnamed and should have just been called Elia.

In the books, an innocent bystander gets on the wrong end of one of the mountain's lunges, but other than that and Tyrion losing all his wine and lunch, it was very much like the book.

"Elia of Dorne! I killed her screaming whelp! Then I raped her! Then I smashed her fricking head in! Like this!"

Im genuinely curious if a man could actually do that, even one as big as the Mountain. I mean he could obviously smash his head in with a couple punches, but to literally increase the pressure so much that his skull pops off...yikes.
