It happens to fast and brutally on the show, was it portrayed basically the same in the books? Was the dialogue the same?

Radio Call of the fight per Tyrion

You Tube Audio Book version with stills from the fight.

It is word for word from the book Tyrion's POV of the fight, it is a little over 12 minutes. Starts where the scene started and ends when it ends. For those Hodor's that are considering becoming a maesters, you have a chance to hear a chapter you just saw. For those that saw the episode tonite, there are no spoilers.

The Mountain is huge. He's over 8 ft tall and 420 lbs of solid muscle. He yields a 6 ft greatsword with one hand. His "finish him" move is cutting people in half

How big does that make the Hound if he was able to stalemate him at that joust? Or did that part not happen that way?

Judging from the way the book had it. The Mountain punched his face in from a bottom position? I get strong, but that's a lil' ridiculous.

The show did that part better, it would seem.

The Hound is a good foot and a half shorter than his brother.

Yes and his face is more fricked up but it's understandable in the show because they can't make a man have basically half a face

I'm more or less just curious as to how the Trail by Combat on the show compares to the book.

Mountain essentially bashes the Viper's face in from the ground in the book. I like the way they did it in the show.

the scene with Tyrion and Jaime was useless and pointless,

my exact thoughts after that scene. Perhaps it's to prepare the Hodors for something that may or may not happen.

I thought the scene was long-winded and boring too.

The way they focused on the guy that claimed he was childhood friend with Ned struck me as telling.

i just thought it was to set up that those peeps were gonna believe everything that sansa told them without question.

I feeling that way at first, but I think it was done to show the contrast to the final conversasion between Robb Stark & Jon Snow.

One thing I haven't seen discussed is Jorah's expulsion from the friendzone.

I feel the show handled that better than book did. The pardon being sent from Tywin was clever twist.

Ok, I have a couple of things I didn't understand.

Was the beetle convo foreshadowing? Was it in the book?

I could tell Sansa had bird feathers on the shoulders of her dress, but what was the thing around her neck? Where are they going? Is she still betrothed to Robin?

Whose garrison was that which Theon convinced to surrender?

Also, the pardon that Jorah received, wasn't that already to Jorah in a previous season?

don't think so

Moat Cailin is an ancient stronghold on the northern edge of the great swamp known as the Neck, in the North. It is one of the North's most important strongholds, though much of it now stands in ruins. Its importance stems from the fact that it commands the causeway, which is the safe route for armies to travel through the swamps of the Neck.

Moat Cailin is an effective natural choke point which has protected the North from southern invasion for thousands of years. The only way for an invader to effective bypass Moat Cailin is to win the allegiance of House Reed and the crannogmen who know of other routes through the swamps.

So did Jojan and Meera's parents just get killed by Ramsey Bolton?

Beetle convo is not in the books. I think it was used to show closeness between brothers and kind of a metaphor for what's up with all the killing?

The thing on Sansa's neck is not important far as I know. Feathers may be a touch of foreshadowing? They aren't going anywhere. Yes I believe she's still betrothed to Sweetrobin. Hard to say really because her story in the books is totally different. I don't like it because it lets more and more people know she is alive and her whereabouts.

Those men that Theon took Moat Cailin from were Ironborn.

The small council discussed Jorah's pardon when Robert Bartatheon was alive. And sent it to him but Tywin sent it again only this time to Barristan in order to expose Jorah

Nah. The Reeds are even south of Moat Cailyn, so the Reeds are fine.
