I know that the founder of their house, Lann the Clever supposedly used his wits to swindle Casterly Rock from the Casterleys somewhere way back. But the didn't really go into any details about it.

They collect taxes from the lords who collect from the landowners.
sorry saw it's been answered many times over.
It's an interesting world GRRM created. I always wanted to know more about Essos and Sothyos.
We always focus on Westeros, but that's the "new" world.

Exactly; Dorne does produce some foods
. Sansa said how rare it was to get lemons in E5 when they showed up in the Vale. Not fully sure how Littlefinger acquired them though.

Thanks to my fellow maesters who have been holding down the thread while I test the limits of my liver in Vegas. For I am the god of tits and wine.

Roose sent his son Ramsey to take Winterfell from the Iron Born and restore it to northern control. Roose also set up Robb Stark and ensured that all major houses in the north suffered major casualties. Roose has now been name Warden of the North by the crown, but he has to win control himself. The Iron Born control a strategic strong, Moat Cailin.

He was the guy that cut off Jamie's hand, his story in the book ended long ago.

I guess I've seen so much desert in Essos that at first I thought that for a brief second I thought Dany had either a) made her way to Westeros and my mind was about to be blown or b) her dragon went rogue and made its way across the sea and was gonna get killed.

Didn't we see snow at the Vale in the previews for this weeks episode?
Doesn't necessarily mean it's winter yet. The Eyrie is on top of a tall mountain well north of King's Landing.

Heard a theory float by about why Shae was speaking against Tyrion and man, it fits.
We always almost hear about Shae's backstory and specifically her family. It was even a sore spot for her when Tyrion ignorantly insulted her parents. And she looked more under duress than vengeful when giving that false testimony.
Seems like we could be seeing a classic "I have your family. Do as I say or they die." Kinda deal.
It would also explain the fear in her face when Tyrion asked for trial by combat. If Tyrion gets off, her family dies anyway. Maybe.

Exactly
. This impending Winter is going to be so bad for all Seven Kingdoms and it's still Fall!

The whole "winter is coming" thing is kinda bullshite now right? I mean thousands of people predict the end of the world everyday, eventually somebody is gonna get it right.
