The Lannisters probably would have gone with the Hound since the Mountain was off burning the countryside.
Who would have fought on Ned's side? Himself? Selmy may have stepped up for him.
Would have been some good television.

I wouldn't like Stannis as my hand. I mean he cut off Davos' finger tips because he was a smuggler. After Davos kept smuggling food to Stannis.
He was rewarded with a title, but punished by having his tips cut off.
Stannis is too tough.
Rob as king John as his hand.

The Hodor dragon picture makes me wonder, do we know for certain who his parents are?
What a clever way for the heir to the Iron Throne to hide in plain sight by pretending to be, well, Hodor.

Noooooooo! Hodor as the heir would be a serious hack job, IMO.

At this point (pseudo Baratheon, true Lannister control), the throne will be taken by force, but claiming a legit reason to hold the throne would seem necessary. Therefore, it would seem a Lannister would not unseat another Lannister since the throne is already theirs. They either keep it or lose it.
I don't believe Stannis lives to see the Iron Throne. I also think the true lineage of the Baratheon children will eventually exclude them from having a rightful claim to the throne. Depending on the customs of Westeros, perhaps one of Robert's bastard sons (Gendry?) has a claim to the throne.
Easily Daenerys would consider the throne hers since is was taken from her family in a rebellion.
I don't believe the Starks (Robb, Bran, Jon) would make claim to the throne. Neither would the Greyjoys.
I also don't believe Littlefinger or Varys aspire to sit on the throne - only the power to puppet master. Mance Rayder may have other ideas though.
It'll be years before this shite plays out and many more characters will be introduced I'm sure.
That said,
I think Daenerys will emerge atop. If not her, then a Baratheon bastard (with Stark support) or Mance Rayder (still an unknown variable at this point).
With the real introduction of the Tyrell's this season, I would not be surprised to see things change dramatically. They seem to know the game and will do what is necessary to be players.

Won't matter what anyone else thinks if she arrives in Westeros with 3 grown dragons.

Agreed.
But she does have a rightful claim. The story does seem to focus on that a little bit.

I going to go with Jon Snow...Are we really sure who his parents are? Maybe he has a legitimate claim, could he be the first son of Robert? and Ned just took him as a favor?

But why would he send Jon to take the black? And once he found out the Jamie/Cercei thing, not hint that Jon would be the rightful heir - above Stannis or Renly?

this thread is just ripe for trolling by book readers, not with spoilers per se, but just fricking with people
Posted on 4/11/13 at 7:33 pm to Cosmo
Yeah and shouldn't be done. I'm about to re-watch the episode from Sunday for the 4th time.

I can't change the thread title, but nonreaders who are adverse to pseudo- or semi-spoilers should definitely stay out of this thread at this point. I haven't posted anything near the line, but others have come damn close.
