Get the frick out of here. If you think that would be a better ending, you missed the point.

No country for old men, had a great ending once I watched the movie a second time. The problem is we, not the director got it wrong. The story ( No country for old men ) was about an old sheriff who had gotten to old for the TIMES. The movie starts out with the Tommy Lee Jones charector talling about the modern day ( late 70s) drug trade compared to yesteryears nom violent crimes he had to deal with. The movie ends ( perfectly ) with the old sheriff retiring, because after all, it's no countty for old men We all looked at the story as a Sugar themed story, but the title says it all, the story was about the sheriff and his inability to stop the drug trafficking.

I would buy the ending to No Country for Old Men more if Tommy Lee Jones character was in the movie. He shows up every now and again but is never relevant to the plot, which is if serves me correct the plot is by definition the main focus of the film, and the main focus of the film was the Cat & Mouse chase between Bardem & Brolin. Everything with Tommy Lee Jones was secondary, UNTIL the last 15 minutes when they tried making the movie about Tommy Lee Jones, despite us only every seeing him walking in the desert or drinking coffee in a cafe the entire movie. Add into the fact the car wreck that served no purpose but to be random. And I know someone will say "I dont get it", but how could I? Everytime I look up an explanation or an analysis on the ending I get 10 different responses about what the ending means and signifies, and every one of those explanation are so different from each other that it really just makes me think that people are over analyzing this whole thing, and making the ending out to be more than it was, just a shitty ending. But to me what infuriates me the most about the ending to NCFOM was that it could have been a good ending. I get it sometimes evil wins, and sometimes when the times pass you by you have to move on and retire. It's just that they followed the novel too a T, and forgot that that they could have executed a better ending while still conveying the same message - Evil wins, No Country for Old Men.
All in all a really good film tho, but There Will Be Blood was better.

The Mist was one of the best endings ever IMO.

Bad guy wins in Seven. Good movie.
I like the original ending to Law Abiding Citizen too.

No country for old men was more about the randomness of the world. The book delved a bit more into Chigurh's psyche and how he viewed himself as someone who attempted to emulate God (old testament). His use of the coin was merciful in his view because while he wouldn't reverse his own words, he would allow people a chance that was out of his hands to escape his wrath. Tommy Lee's character once he began to understand what he may have been up against realized he didn't understand it at all and backed off. Glossing over the final encounter between Brolin and Bardem was how the book handled it, and another drawn out fight scene probably wouldn't have turned the movie into more of an action film IMHO. Like in Rosenary's baby, your imagination of what was seen probably trumps anything they could have shown.

I never viewed Clyde (Gerard) as the bad guy. I was pulling for him the entire time.

"Star Wars Episode III"
"Sean of the Dead" (got progressively un-funny as the movie went on. It got downright depressing and lame up until the last minute or so)

Butler was supposed to get away with it in Law Abiding Citizen?
Man, that would have made it a much better flick.
I always thought it was ridiculous how meticulous his plans were only to be ultimately stopped b/c he had no security in his secret entrance.

ETA: Forgot about Django. Movie would have been much better if it hadn't dragged on for so long.
Drawn out length is typically a Tarantino requirement.

I can't figure out who is the best at coming up with concepts but the worst at execution especially when it comes to keeping them from dragging - Ryan Murphy Quentin Tarintino or Seth Rogen?
