I've never seen the third Godfather, but I have seen the first two. I've always heard it's a pretty bad movie, but people tend to exaggerate and I'm thinking about watching it tonight.

Is it really as bad as I've heard or is it just because it stands next to two giants from the first two movies?

Think not, do. You have to see it for completeness' sake if nothing else. It's pretty goofy at times, but Don Altobello has a line I really love. Bridget Fonda is in it.

It's this. It's not even close to the other 2 Godfathers obviously, but it's nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. People like to make themselves seem popular by exaggerating it a bit.

It's as bad as you heard.

I have to agree with the notion that you need to see it for completion sake. But it'll almost certainly be the one that you refuse to watch ever again after you've seen it.

Sofia Coppola getting the role of Mary Corleone (hands down worst acting performance ever) was by some weird twists of fate too. Winona Ryder originally had the role but fell ill. One of the girls that was to read for the role, Rebecca Schaeffer, was strangled to death by a fan on the way to read for FFC.

It's not nearly as bad as it's made out to be. It's no where close to the level of the first two and Sofia Coppola is truly awful in the role, it was supposed to be Winona Ryder in that role, but it is worth watching to close out the trilogy.

ETA Julia Roberts also had the role but had to drop for scheduling conflicts.

It's not a bad movie.

It's just bad compared to what came before it.

I agree.

Do not watch it. It's terrible. Superman III and Scream III did more for their first 2 movies in the franchise than did The Godfather III.

No. It is that bad. The first two are two of the greatest movies ever made. And that's not hyperbole, either.

Not really a big deal, but Rebecca Schaeffer was shot in her apartment by the crazed fan. Back on track, she would've been really good in the role of Mary. Certainly better than Coppola.

It's the Dragonball GT to I and II's Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. It'd be best for everyone if they just came out and renounced it as not being canon

It's honestly a very good movie. The biggest issue is that it's part of a trilogy with two of the greatest movies ever made AND it came out in the same year as Goodfellas. The standards were impossible to live up to.

It's worth watching, just because. It's still pretty epic. A lot of it being "so horrible" is because of its comparison to the first two. But yeah, it's not really good. It has some wtf moments and not in a good way.
