Just saw it, and it’s incredible.

Some supremely intense moments that made one feel you were there participating.

Thought the light-hearted beginning was well done. Got a kick out of the little impromptu dance-off during the night patrol towards the OP.

(Spoiler alert)

Don’t know how many caught it but the giveaway that there was an IED there came when the solitary female walking the street made a loop around their compound entrance.

I assumed that the hadji’s had set one up there over the course of the night after the SEAL’s had taken up residence there and gave away their position by breaking down the wall?

Damn, didn't even catch that. Was gonna look for some kind of tell on a rewatch but that makes perfect sense

Not any more unique than The Hurt Locker

The Hurt Locker was not a war movie.

It was a psychological thriller set in Iraq.

The military parts of it were wildly inaccurate.

If you had a "realistic" movie about an EOD team it would last 7 hours and be boring as shite

Exactly why a movie doesn’t always have to stay true/accurate to an event in order to be good. If anything, Jarhead is probably the most realistic and entertaining “fictitious” war film because the main characters don’t even see combat.

I remember my dad asking me if I had seen this movie. I said yes. He told me he didn’t like it because it was boring and nothing happened at the end. I told him congrats, that’s the point.

I was curious how it got there. Something else I wondered about. So the Bradley just drove away?

I’m assuming they believed everyone meant to be medivac’d was dead.

Later on the radio when a return mvac was fiscussed and denied they said it was due to the area being still compromised and that the Bradley earlier had taken damage

Saw it yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon on the advice of this post. Really liked it and glad I went. Not a boring or dull moment. Held my attention.

I do have a question. What was up with the Marine kicking the wounded SEAL in the leg more than once? Is that some kind of Marine thing?

i havent seen the movie, but we do enjoy kicking the navy around when the opportunity arises. however, i generally avoid doing this to SEALs.

I think that was that guys douchie way of getting him to “suck it up” until they got out of there. Obviously did not read the room well, I wanted to punch that dude regardless of his intentions

What happened to the 2nd interpreter? The guy that was first to stumble to his feet after the explosion, did he run off or hop in the Bradley before it drove away? He just disappeared the rest of the movie

Or did he get blown away too? I thought I could tell by his camo and AK that was him that stood up first but may have missed something

I just got home from seeing it. It was a good movie but to me it wasn't a great movie. I'm not sure what it was, but they didn't seem like a very tightly knit, highly trained unit. A couple of them came across as scared. The one guy who was inside when the IED went off and wasn't in the blast just seemed like a coward. I know many will probably disagree with me, but that was the least combat-effective SEAL team I've ever seen portrayed, BEFORE the IED blast.

Went last night, was a fantastic movie. Not at all what I was expecting, they've stayed on top of removing any clips of it from social media, so I didn't really know what to expect.

Went with a buddy who works in the movie industry. Went to bed last night with it on my mind, probably the adrenaline.

A probable cult classic. It's so quiet that you will HAVE to watch it on high volume at your home.

There were some weaker links for sure. I won’t call any of them weak. Part of the appeal of the film is how it stays true to the interviews of how things went down. There was little to no “Hollywooding” it up.

To me there was way too many involved for what they were trying to accomplish. You saw quite a bit of standing around. But they didn’t really know what kind of situation they were walking into when they took over the house - which turned out to be two different residences.

When that guy that lived there walks out after they leave and starts taking in all the damage they left it was almost funny. It really was a screw up.
