Very little about the first or the second films was historically accurate outside of names.

Eh, Commodus really did fight in the Colosseum and was a shithead. The rest was made up, but none of it for political bullshite.

Yeah that would actually make sense because they’d just take them from the Nile. There is no logical sense on how they could get sharks in there.
Wait, what? Wow, I may not even watch this on cable.

The wife and I saw it opening night at 1020 pm definitely not as good as the first one but it was very entertaining. I little ridiculous with the ship battle in the coliseum and the sharks

Overall I give it 6/10 for cinematography and the story. Glad I got to see it in the XD theater.

Huh? The black woman archer was in the first movie. It’s just a callback to that scene.

I actually think it would've been cooler to incorporate the real story with Caracalla having Geta killed along with a genocide of all Geta's followers and have Lucius in the middle of it. More historically accurate and would've been a better plot. Not a bad movie overall though IMO

there no sharks in the Mediterranean?

Not as many as there are in the Atlantic. Bull and Tiger Sharks aren’t in the Mediterranean, and while Great Whites are occasionally, if we can’t take one alive to this day, what are the chances that the Romans could? Haven’t seen the movie yet, but those are the only three species of truly lethal sharks. It’s absurd.

Didn’t hate it and i think the people calling it dog shite are over the top.

Mescal was a far cry from Crowe and didn’t hold near the command of the role but he also was an orphan barbarian seeking rage.

Not a general who’d lead thousands of men to battle. I don’t think it was supposed to be the same and that’s fine.

Some things were over the top (sharks and gore) but it was a fun sequel at worst with none of the gravitas of the original.

To borrow from somebody else (but be more forgiving,) if I hadn’t seen the first it would be a 6.5-7/10.

Because I saw the original a decent 5/10.

Yeah, we’re not even sure if Romans knew sharks existed

Dude come on this is an absurd statement. Romans ruled the Mediterranean for nearly 1000 years. There are, and were sharks in the Mediterranean. You don’t think in a millennia, that they never saw a shark fin swimming? Or saw sharks eating a whale carcass? They knew what the frick they were. Of course they probably considered them another fish, but that’s beside the point.

One of your dumber comments. I get it the movie is retarded for putting sharks in the coliseum, but the Romans knew sharks existed.

I almost feel like they tried to be woke and Scott said “fine. Just put that shite in the background.” Random bylines and effeminate men in the background.

There was a random boob in there that I wasn’t expecting.

Oh I agree with this part. You had suggested Romans might’ve not even known what sharks were so I was wondering if they wouldn’t have encountered them in the Mediterranean

Oceanic White Tips are famously hyper aggressive (just ask the USS Indianapolis survivors) as are Makos. Pretty much all open water sharks will eat you. They can't afford not to. It's how they live.

But to think that people could catch any of them, transport them alive and put them in a shallow, super warm pool of water where they live longer than an hour and retain their full aggressiveness - is too fricking stupid for words.

I saw this yesterday. Some of yall need to lower your expectations. One of the top 10 action movies of all time has a sequel 15 years later. Some of yall are expecting something that’s impossible.

If you want 2:30 hours of action and fighting. This will do that.

The plot has some holes and the ending is kinda dumb.

But it was an entertaining 2:30 hours. The dude from Stranger Things was good. The other emperor was horrible. But some of the takes that it’s awful are over blown. It’s a sequel. What did you expect,

Just got out. It’s not terrible. My biggest issue is that it weakens the first movie. Maximus pretty much died for nothing and control never went to the senate and another tyrannical emperor came to rule. It’s also weird how people in this one talk about Maximus like they barely remember him. I mean he only died 16 years ago and he killed the fricking emperor I think that’d be fresh in everyone’s heads

They didn’t mention them which is more the point. Sure they probably knew about them, but they didn’t make note of it. Neither did the Greeks.

Well that is the point that they didn’t really make much of them, unlike the Europeans did when setting sail to America.

It’s actually historical knowledge that the Romans flooded the coliseum and staged mini naval battles, and they did have crocs from the Nile in there too. Sharks? No fricking historical way.
I don’t need my historical fiction to be accurate, but it’s got to be believe able, like the first one.

Not that I disagree with the rest of your post but try a sequel 24 years later.
