Sounds like garbage as usual.

The baboons and sharks were garbage and were terrible CGI. I don't know why they didn't do crocodiles like they actually did when they flooded the Colosseum.
I feel like they were trying to make the whole movie a grand spectacle and missed on what made the first movie so good.
I will say, I am glad that the fight with Denzel wasnt long and drawn out. You cant make a whole movie about how Lucius is this bad arse and then old man Denzel hold his own for a long time againt him.

It didn’t make sense that it lasted more than 5 seconds. His character was somewhat like the darker skinned guy in the first one that was representing Maximus, and that guy was a former gladiator. Denzel was not yet it’s like they wanted us to think that.

Denzel was a former slave and gladiator too. He won his freedom (he even showed Lucille his brand from her father).

I must have missed that. My bad.

I was optimistic going in and was incredibly disappointed when the credits rolled. I know Scott said this was his Final Cut, but I don’t believe him. I feel like I watched a highlight reel of a movie instead of a full feature.

I haven’t seen a single unqualified thumbs up for this movie anywhere. Is it that much of a turd?
I just finished season 1 of Rome I guess I’ll watch season 2 and pretend this new movie never happened

The co-emperors were neither twins nor gay. A lot of the historical liberties smack of political motivation.
I'm not hearing good things from anywhere.

Very little about the first or the second films was historically accurate outside of names.

This review deserves accolades not the movie. It's much more put together. Two thumbs up.
The movie gets three thumbs down. Fail.

Is it woke af?
No. It’s just a poorly written and acted movie with ridiculous over the top scenes.

Who is the villain of this movie? The twin emperors are psychotic but incompetent, Pedro Pascal's character killed Lucius's wife but only because she was trying to kill him, and Denzel's character wants to bring down the whole system and come out as the top dog. There is no true antagonist in this movie like there was in Gladiator. You could understand why Commodus did what he did, but the man was clearly a villain. I can't find any villain in Gladiator II. All four of the supposed antagonists aren't really all that villainous.

Denzel looks like bad casting in the previews. Like he sounds like some dude from New Jersey

It certainly had its moments. Starting at the git-go.

Like sharks in the coliseum?
Surprised there were not laser beams attached to their heads too.
Yeah, we’re not even sure if Romans knew sharks existed and sharks weren’t widely reported on until Europeans went to the Americas. Nevertheless keeping them alive for them to be in the Coliseum. Sharks are notoriously difficult to be kept alive in captivity and they need a lot of room to swim around or else they suffocate. Who’s diving in there to clean out the tank? And how did they transport the lethal sharks? The aqueducts?

Yeah that would actually make sense because they’d just take them from the Nile. There is no logical sense on how they could get sharks in there. Them having a gorilla would have made more sense.
