the series will pick up after the events of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, with stars Finn Wolfhard and McKenna Grace announced to reprise their roles from the film.

Likely the most surprising part of today’s press release is the announcement of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as the series lead. An IMDB page has already gone live, listing Johnson’s character as Sean “Rookie” Ransome.

Stars of the 1984 original Ghostbusters, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts are said to have supporting roles, with a brief synopsis revealing that Hudson’s character, Winston Zeddemore, will serve as the new team’s mentor. No word on how Aykroyd or Potts fit in, but given what was seen in Afterlife, it’s safe to assume that Ray’s Occult Books will likely find its way into the series.

The partnership will be under the Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan umbrella, with the two signing a producing deal with Sony Pictures in November of last year.

He's like an actress who thinks she's getting cast for her great tits. He's worried that there's a time limit on his physique.

I am so tired of remakes, reimaginings, and soft reboots. Hopefully this is a 4/1 fake out.

The new video game will also have Winston as the mentor and Ray running his book store.

So we’ll get to see him lay the smack down on some ghosts’ candy asses? Maybe hit the Ectoplasmic Elbow?

Sounds odd, but could be fun I guess. I liked Afterlife

Has there been an announced shortage of HGH or something?

He’s bigger now than 20 years ago when he wrestled.

sick of seeing him everywhere, he can't act for shite, and I can't suspend my disbelief when he shows up on screen.

Afterlife was surprisingly good with a load of nostalgia…. This could be good if not for the rock. Why the frick is he included? Dude is an attention whore who will take any role thrown at him.
