This. I don't know about being gay but I think her early stuff definitely had a subtext of bondage. With her unbreakable golden lasso and all.

I think I've read that the guy who came up with the character also invented the lie detector or some such thing. And maybe had some kinky habits.

I think every female comic character has been teased to be lesbian.

It's all about thrilling the fanboys.

The original origin story is that Wonder Woman was sculpted from clay by her mother and given life by the Greek gods.

More recently, she was made the daughter of Zeus and Hippolyta (her mother).

There is a book about the creator of Wonder Woman and the inspiration for the character

The Secret History of Wonder Woman

So-so writing, but lots of info.

Definitely lots of bondage/s&m stuff in there. And he did invent one of the first lie detectors, but not the modern polygraph. Marston (the creator) was an original whacko and certainly a horn dog

Basically, the book posits that Wonder Woman was a characterization of the Women's rights movement of the early 20th century. Margaret Sanger was the aunt of one of Marston's wives.

After he died, the next writer that took over changed the tenor of the book and had Wonder Woman start to pine away for Steve Trevor and play a more subservient role. He was the guy that had her serve as the secretary of the JSA...apparently drove Marston crazy.

Reading Grant Morrison's Wonder Woman: Earth One, definitely some sapphic vibes.

surprised they didn't get Dennis Rodman to play her

I will be glad when queer comic characters, males who are recast as women, whites recast black, etc, etc, etc, gets old and boring, which it has to do when every single one is changed in some way

oh so edgy the 12th time it has been done!

Wouldn't she break her girlfriend in half when they scissored?

Yes, and has been proven, Superman would blow Lois Lane's brains out with his Super cumshots.

Sexual compatibility, it's a real thing. They had an opportunity to be the real Power Couple in all of comic books but the fricked it up with Rebirth. It's disappointing as hell.

That book was boring beyond belief. It needed a much stronger editor.

What we need now is a cross over between DC's Wonder Woman and Marvel's Luke Cage. A portion of the board would lose it's mind.

So, because she comes from an all-female island, a concept likely intended to make young boys horny and want to go there, they're all lesbians.

Wasn't the concept largely borrowed/stolen from the myths of the Amazons? The full citizens of whom were all women.

Yep. Thought I would breeze through it...took much longer than expected.

It was just a massive info dump. Interesting info, but poorly put together
