Somthe upshot is that the living won, but the North has no army left

They still have 2 dragons which could probably take kings landing on their own. As far as soldiers left I have no earthly clue other than the mega plot armor from established characters. Still makes no sense since the wights completely took over the castle and the north should have pretty much nobody left.

1 and 1/2

The dragons and the survivors need to recover before another massive battle. The scorpions could probably take out slow and injured dragons.

It almost needs to be a coup or assasination to overthrow KL.

Arya is a trained assassin who's known for getting the drop on people. And we still got three episodes left very possible mean more big names die. You're just overreacting because you thought the endgame was with the NK not the throne
She's known for getting the drop on people but somehow she gets by an entire army and after fighting all night still has the stamina to do a superhuman leap and kill the most dangerous thing in the world. This battle was immensely more dangerous than whatever is going to happen at kings landing, but somehow all the big names live. This is a very far cry from the quality from the earlier seasons when they were working with book material.

Yes, yes it is.

The books surprised you, but in ways that were well earned. That made horrible sense when you thought about them.

I wasn’t at all surprised to see that everyone survived the battle.

Don’t get what all the hate was about this episode it was discussed the night before the battle that killing the night king would be the way to defeat the dead. Arya was at this meeting. I think Melisandrea was the missing piece to killing the night king. She knew the prophecy and she told Davos that she would be dead by morning and she was. Before Arya took off she knew she had to get to Bran because that’s where the NK would be. I just think killing the knight king in this episode is what pissed people off obviously it wasn’t the big piece of the pie in this story. We got 3 episodes left and let’s enjoy them. My .02

For those that wanted the war with the White Walkers to last all season, tell me how you are going to drag out Jaime being pinned against the wall by a hoard of undead for six episodes?

I know some are disappointed but this war had to be fought in one episode. The NK would just keep on raising the dead and it would have been impossible to defeat them.

Most of the posters in this thread remind me of restaurant patrons when Gordon Ramsey shows up to save the establishment. They suddenly go from enjoying something to everyone becoming the NYT’s food critic.

As it stands the Night King is left as this rando powerful man-made monster who just wanted to kill everything for the sake of killing everything. Which feels rather hollow.

I'd understand this if we didn't know how the NK was created. But we do. He was created by the CotF to destroy man.

That's it. You're welcome.

I hope this cocksucker didn't spoil an important plot point of endgame.

Admittedly, there was some plot armor, but a fair number of long running characters died in this episode.

Yeah everyone complaining that they didn’t understand the Night King’s motivation is probably due to the fact that “I hate everyone for reasons” is pretty shallow and lackluster for a character who seems much more complex. He arranges bodies in special undead symbols, hates the 3ER, has an apparent heirarchy of generals, transforms babies into White Walkers, etc.

Explaining the motivation of all of that by saying that humans make him cranky is just strange. It feels like there should be more.

The NK was literally made to kill any of the living and the children created him when they felt their existence was getting threatened by them and he turned out to be an uncontrollable monster. If that isn't a good enough explanation for anyone about his motives then I don't know what to say

Last nights epsiode was awesome. Couple points.

- they had to kill the NK in battle. If the dead won there is zero way to continue the story without the NK killing everyone. Bran was the only thing he wanted and that was the livings one shot.

- I hope we get more of an explanation of what bran was doing, what he knew.

- there will have to be another army or two that show up to assist Jon and Dany.

- I hope ghost is ok he is a good boy

So I thought about it some more and I’m glad the NK went out like he did.

He was a little bitch and wouldn’t face John rightfully in the field of battle. I think we all wanted that battle because of John’s heroism at the Wall, Hardhome, Eastwatch, and BotB, but by that time the NK wanted nothing to do with him.

Not taking away from Arya, but NK deserves to get surprised attacked by a 95 lb girl.

One of the things that has always bothered me ab the dragons is the fact that when the spew these giant flames of fire in a field of combat it just seems to only hit the enemy. You would think everyone from both sides would get burnt to a crisp everytime she came in and saved the day.

I wonder about the other 12 walkers. Just because the NK is dead, all the wights are dead but are the other WW dead too?

This might not be over

I liked it and can’t believe be people are ripping it. Everyone has a microphone these days and likes to bitch just to bitch

George Martin is in all the meetings and he told them long time ago how the show ends and how the NK ends, so they aren’t making this up out of left field.

Let’s see how the remaining 3 play out.
