Who cares. In the books, there’s lots of foreshadowing what Littlefinger is up to, what he’s going to do, and what will happen to him from multiple different characters. I just figured this was more of the same.
1. This is not the books
2. Sam is reading a book looking for help on killing the NK, and there’s a giant picture of the dagger in it
It kind of matters when you look back on it

They didn’t come up with Arya killing the Night King until they were done writing Season 6. Save for that one time Melisandre spoke with Arya, you’re pretty much asking I blow off the rest of the series for two small scenes.

quote:Again, the show's prophesy isn't the book's. Mel says Jon is the PWWP and that may still be true based on the details from the show (which are basically none). It's also apparent that the writers don't care for the book's prophesy. They explicitly said that the only reason they chose someone other than Jon was for shock and the only prereq was someone with a Valerian blade. End of story. People need to learn to separate that two.
They also had 3 different people predicted to be the Prince/Princess who was Promised
Why are we upset they were all wrong instead of 2/3 of them?

The dagger was in the books after season 6
Arya received the dagger after season 6
The dagger is mentioned a couple times this season

If we believe David that they chose Arya 3 years ago, that was while they were writing season 8 during season 7 filming/post prod. Whatever happened in 6 had no impact on the decision. An argument could be made for 7.

I think Cersei gets beat episode 5
First half episode 6 is her in The Red Keep basically Hitler Bunker situation

I think it’s possible we see Bran turn into the new NK as a closing shot
NK’s Mark is on him, it probably means something more than just GPS
He hasnt killed anybody so who would he turn into WW/Wights? That would be another 1,000 year story.

You’re forgetting that that interview with D&D was from when they were filming, so at best it’s from 2018, possibly 2017 so that 3 years could go back to 2014

The wheel keeps on turning
Jon said death always wins, but Beric said we must fight anyway

I think they knew when writing 7. Bran giving the dagger to Arya was a setup. All the other crap is bull shite retconning though from earlier seasons.
Them using the Syrio and Mel lines is a joke.
No, you guys never intended that to be foreshadowing.

I think this might be a continual 1,000 year story.
Sure makes the Stark words more ominous, doesn't it?

Which im happy with. I want the book to be as far off as possible from the show.
I was pissed when after the Hold the Door episode they said straight out that GRRM told them that part. It blew their mind. I didnt want to know if that was books or show, even though it was too genius to be D&D anyway. Still.
I love knowing that this was D&D and not GRRM.

quote:a good bit of the books prophecy was in the show. the youtube compilation Salt and Smoke proves this. So they dont GAF about that prophecy yet they want to use the Lord of Light via Mel and Beric to give hope, protection, and save the day?

thats makes them not using the prophecy even worse.

I think they made a big point that the Lord of Lights works in mysterious ways and that prophesies are not 100%

prophesies are not 100%

Misinterpreting the bible is not the same as finding out Jesus is not real.

Well if we are to believe Cersi an Dany are pregnant, that’s 2 prophecies that are incorrect
Posted on 5/1/19 at 10:58 am to Thib-a-doe Tiger
And the Cersi one in particular would be D&D shitting on source material again.
